That 8.5 million subscription list was close to the release of TBC. Quite frankly I expected it, what with the hype + curious returning customers. Few months have passed since then, more and more players have reached 70 where all the great rep grinds, and mat pharming run rampant.

With all the "I QUIT" threads and posts I see in the forums, Im just curious to see what that number really is ATM.

So? If youre too ashamed to answer Blizz ... its ok .... I understand /comfort

I don't have a number to give you, but I'm sure that at some point we'll update everyone on how it's all going. No need to comfort us. Things are still going well. It sounds like to me that you are buying into the negative posts and ignoring the more positive aspects. It's understandable, but it makes for false assumptions.

We're moving forward and continuing to do what we can to continue the progression of the game because not only is it what we want, but it's something we feel people look forward to. If people weren't looking forward to more, why else would they ask , "what next?" and guess as to what new features and expansion we have planned? People like shiny new toys and so do we.

Relax a bit, enjoy the Wednesday. We're half through the week and are getting toward the weekend. :)

Can't believe a blue responded to this.

Edit: As a side note, Neth, when is the Arena Season ending?

Small miracles a day at a time. No date on the Arena Season end to give you just yet. Sorry. :(

Why do Blues respond to trivial posts such as this, but won't answer real questions?

What is reality anyway? Whose reality are we talking about? Is it yours? Your neighbor's? Your dog's?

"Man is only a reed, the weakest in nature; but he is a thinking reed. There is no need for the whole universe to take up arms to crush him: a vapor, a drop of water is enough to kill him. But even if the universe were to crush him, man would still be nobler than his slayer, because he knows that he is dying and the advantage the universe has over him. The universe knows nothing of this."- - Blaise Pascal, "Pensées

Don't forget that we also bumped up the amount of players that can be on the realms near the time of the Burning Crusade's release.. By doing this, we made it less necessary to add new realms on a continuing basis. That's not to say we won't add more if we deem it necessary. Everyone always likes a fresh realm and what happens is, if we create too many, the population gets too thinned out. By expanding the amount of people able to be on a realm, we perpetuate a healthy population.

We also keep a close eye on realm populations and do what we can to encourage new players and players looking for a new realm to start on, to roll on realms that may have lower populations than others.

Many players go through phases of their gaming. They might start off very gung-ho about a game and burn themselves out on it quickly. Some take breaks either because they burnt out, they have real life commitments that take them away from their gaming hobby, and some just get bored or find elements of what was once was fun to have lost their appeal. It's a normal cycle.

We aren't hiding our numbers and there is nothing to spin here. We give numbers when we can because we realize everyone wants to know just how far this thing can go. The more people that are attracted to the MMORPG genre and gaming, the better. It's win/win for everyone.

LOL last time I heard a soon was in beta before the game came out when someone asked when was wether effects comming out after realese. So we got nearly two years to wait eh? lol

Oh come on now. The best things in life take time! We could say it's "slow roasted for rich full-bodied flavor" or "finely aged".

We push as fast as we can without sacrificing the quality we strive for. People may argue with that and will, but quality and fun are what we want out of everything we do. Sometimes getting that quality means that it's going to take time. We also have a mountain of ideas and a plan for things we still want to implement in the game.

I appreciate the input, but I just wanted to say that wine is the only thing I know of that ppl refer to as full bodied. And wine isn't slow roasted.

Just so you know I play WoW ALOT and while I do I have food network on in the background so I am pretty much an expert a la Bobby Flay.

Coffee. I was thinking of coffee. ;) I've never seen Bobby Flay grill that.
