I started off playing World of Warcraft as a Guild Wars veteran, having thoroughly played GW from its first campaign till its first and final expansion, till one day a friend suggested the 7 Day trial for Burning Crusade. Since then I've been awestruck with the countless experiences and memories shared with friends and family members across this expansive online world. I've got to hand it to Blizzard they've made a remarkable game, and its only getting better with time.
Anyways, as time went on I discovered more and more people, both from prior games and real life, were currently playing World of Warcraft. The issue here was that, many of them were on different servers, some even with established guild communities on WoW. I made a couple alts across different servers, but as time went on it became a game of "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" in terms of who I wanted to play with. The addition of Real ID to WoW was a godsend, it made meeting up to play with friends a lot easier, but it wasn't completely there just yet.
With the recent changes to the Battlegroup matchmaking, I think we're getting much closer to the Real ID I'm envisioning. The basic idea would be 'play with your friends anytime, anywhere'. You could queue with your Real ID friends across any Battlegroup within your region for dungeons and raids the same way you would with randoms on any server. I've been very vocal about this idea with my friends and they all feel it would be a very welcome upgrade to the current Real ID system. Hopefully the community feels the same way and sometime down the road after the Battlegroup matchmaking testing is over and done with we can see something like this implemented for Real ID.
