For those wondering: Wintergrasp is terrible

Some of you are probably wondering how Wintergrasp is shaping up. It isn't shaping up at all.

I'm in Beta and Wintergrasp is completely unplayable, so you probably won't hear anything about Wintergrasp for a very long time.. Horde outnumber Alliance on Murmer (now changed to Murmur) by about a 300:1 ratio. Not a single person understands what you are supposed to do, or what the objective is. Players are not supposed to use flying mounts, but that is currently bugged. All you need to do is right click the buff the zone puts on you that prevents you from flying.

Unless Blizzard puts out a specific page explaining what the goal of this place is, feel free to go back to your AV zergs and WSG turtles.

For those wondering: Wintergrasp is in beta, still very much a work in progress, and isn't functioning at an acceptable level in its current state. Many bug fixes and game play improvements are yet to come.

Well...can you at least tell me what the heck it is?

Lake Wintergrasp is an outdoor PvP zone featuring siege weapons and destructible keeps which is only now beginning to see some testing. We'll be rigorously collecting feedback and bug reports from those who try newly-implemented beta features and don't write them off as "terrible" in their progressive, incomplete state.

So, you admit it don't you? It's broken, unfair, and ah - nerf Rogues.

I think the only thing I've truly admitted in this thread is that not everyone currently participating in the beta testing process should be.

Criticism of Blizzard and world pvp failure = shouldn't be participating

This isn't the beta forum and this player is not attempting to help shape Lake Wintergrasp into a more-polished zone by posting here. I've read your posts and understand where you're coming from, I just hope you recognize your point-of-view has little relevance in this thread.

Here's a summation so we can walk in-step toward a less opaque sunset:

The original poster says, "Wintergrasp is terrible."

You respond, "I knew it would be."

I respond to the original poster, "it's not finished and this feedback does nothing to help us. In fact, it doesn't seem helpful at all that you're in the beta."

You respond, "you can't take criticism and would sooner ban players from testing than listen."

Your motive may or may not be in-line with the original poster, but your ability to place fortunes on the failure of an incomplete piece of work is equally as insignificant as the feedback for which this thread was generated.

I'm basing my assumptions off the past world pvp. It's either been instanced or it's been secluded to pits for gear rewards. What makes you respond is you know exactly what I said is going to be how it plays out.

I apologize, I'm unable entertain your palm reading.

Q u o t e:
No need to break down timeline of posts. I got it. But what you effectively said was, "well you don't like it so you shouldn't be participating"

My point is almost exactly the opposite. If a beta tester does not like how things are working, he or she needs to provide us detailed and constructive feedback via the appropriate avenues. Given some of the past world PvP objectives, of course there's a lot of anticipation and skepticism surrounding Lake Wintergrasp. The only reason this post would be made on the General forum is to feed on that skepticism so the Teutons of the world can jump out of the woodwork saying "I told you so." Posting here certainly isn't a way to get the attention of those looking for feedback from beta testers.

Q u o t e:
But I'm willing to bet if the same person dropped by with praise you wouldn't of said anything close to that.

As there would be no current ulterior motive for providing positive feedback on the current state of Wintergrasp on the live forums, I don't see how this relates.

I just know that how it's going to play out without a doubt in my mind.

It must be a gift. My mind doesn't work in such ways. I'm known for sitting on fences.

Q u o t e:
Did I misread or did you just claim there's no motive to praise wintergrasp which believe me I can understand.

There is little reason for a beta tester to come here to the live forums and praise the current state of Wintergrasp. Feedback, both positive and negative, should be extremely specific about elements of the zone's game play and made solely on the beta forum.

Whether or not it lives up to your expectations of world PvP is entirely another issue. I truly hope it does. I have a personal interest -- not just a professional one, mind you -- in wanting it to succeed in being rewarding, fun, and popular.

If Kalgan actually got out from behind his desk and COMMUNICATED with the players about wtf he isdoing then this wouldn't be an issue. He is completely out of touch with the player base.

He's also not the all-powerful man behind the curtain some choose to make him out to be. He's not deciding the fate of millions based on a gear wish list he has for his characters.

I spent hours today just compiling posts made by developers on the beta forums. I'm not saying you have no valid concerns here, Furrybear. Sometimes though people have a tendency to base arguments solely around chosen evidence. If you think the developers are not at all engaging beta testers to help make Wrath of the Lich King the best expansion possible, and an improvement upon the current game, you're just not very interested in finding contrasting evidence to your view point.

Zarhym, can you tell us if its going to have decent rewards? Or if you know whether the developers realize that rewards will be the deciding factor on how successful it will be.

Yes.
