WoW 40+ hrs a week - How do you do it?

I was lucky enough to be able to work at home for about 4 months, so I was easily able to put in tons of time, which conveniently was around when BC came out. I started running out of gas very quickly. I just couldnt make myself play THAT much THAT often, EVERY day , days/weeks/MONTHS on end. So I dont get it. How do you people that play 40+ hrs a week, do it? Do you truly not have any obligations? No job? No school? No family? Totally not meaning to insult. Frankly I am envious of you who have the time to be first to get all the cool stuff and experience the new raids and stuff on the server. So yea, how?

I usually get home from work around 7PM and play until 11PM or 12AM. Weekends are where most of my playing takes place. I think I usually meet or exceed the 40 hour mark, but there are plenty of weeks that I'm doing other things and fall short.

Right now I'm raiding three evenings a week, so I'm a little more consistent.

do you still play on that server that you did the guild thing with?

what was it a year ago?

we never figured out which one you were :P

The character I created is still there, but no, I've been playing my priest almost exclusively.

How do the devs raid? Don't you know how to beat it all?

I am not on the design team, nor do I lead the raid.

How's that Balance druid coming along?

Stuck at level 42, currently. I'll revisit the class for sure, just couldn't resist playing my priest when Burning Crusade launched.

What are your honest opinions on priests?
What level have you played to?
Whats your spec?

no flames, but just wondering. i know you have about as much power over changing the class as i do. :(

My priest is level 70 and I'm specced 23/38/0. My honest opinion is that it's my favorite class, which is the reason I chose to play the character when the expansion released.

Question. Which one of you activly plays a shaman? and what spec is it?

I have a level 60 Shaman, but have not played in a while. Ordinn has a level 70 Shaman and plays very actively. He's experimented with many different builds both before and after reaching level capacity. Currently though, he's restoration -- however, I know he switches to enhancement now and then.

Yeah it's my favorite too, I just can't handle the constant nerfs. I want to look forward to patches not dread them.

And you couldn't resist going back to the Priest for the BC? I don't see how since we don't really get anything new or exciting but I suppose you were the one who said you'd spec deep holy when you were talking about the Priest changes so it doesn't take much to make you happy.

Prayer of Mending is awesome. Mine does 1600 per jump for 273 mana, instantly. Shadowfiend, while a little sloppy, is also great -- during a boss fight it often adds another couple of thousand mana to my pool. Binding Heal will be great in the right situations after the next patch. Shadow Word Death, when I was focused on hurting, rather than healing made me happy each and every time I'd use it against an enemy..

To like or dislike is all so very subjective. But maybe it just takes too much to make you happy?

That's classy. I wonder how long I'd have a job if I said that to one of our paying customers?

It's a fair and honest question, friend.

How are you holding up to similarly geared pallies? Enjoying your Shadowfiend during CC events?

I don't use my shadowfiend during cc events, and considering I usually don't come anywhere near to running out of mana on trash, it's not a problem. There aren't that many boss encounters that require cc, and not being able to use my shadowfiend is simply an obstacle in the encounter's strategy, and not enough to break me.

I hold up fine against all other healers of equivalent gear, Fshalor.

Wasn't directed at me. I never commented on my happiness. My biggest complaint with this game is the poor communication between the game company and it's base. Other companies handle it better, no reason a company with the resources can't do better. /shrug

You have a dozen or so posts expressing your feelings towards our poor communication, Who. I believe you've made your point. Further concern should be emailed to cmfeedback@blizzard.com. It will be considered trolling if you continue on this way, I'm afraid.

*cough* moroes *cough

but on a side note, ive found that on the PTR, if i shackled a target (it was one of the undead mobs outside kara) and then used my shadow fiend on the target, that it would just stand there. Has something changed in the ptr with the mechanics of the shadow fiend, does it go against other priest targets, not necessarily my own, or was it just a freak occurrence?

I barely come close to even using a mana potion on Moroes, let alone needing to unleash the shadowfiend. To answer your question, I know we were looking into improving they way guardians interacted with cc'd mobs, but I'm not sure if the change made it into patch 2.1.

I can certainly check upstairs and repost with an answer a little later, however.

Eyonix,

Do you PvP much with your priest? 1600 per jump is a hell of a PoM, I'm guessing 1600-1700 +heal? Sounds like you have pretty good gear anyway.

Curious about the PvP side and what you think about it all though. I'm particularly interested in breaking snares which not even the PvP trinket does at this point.

I'm at 1500 healing unbuffed, but I also get a bonus of 100 from my dungeon 3 set. I don't PvP at the moment, but am looking to form an arena team.

Eyonix, since you've been paying attention to this thread, I'll ask here. If you love your priest so much and think it's so great, where've you been? We haven't seen you post in the priest forums for ages (late February when PoM was nerfed by my search). Do you not feel that you have anything of substance to offer the priest community which, as a whole, is stinging from a long line of nerfs and minor buffs that don't address the fundamental problems of the class? It'd be nice to know that someone was listening to the litany of helpful feedback you blues claim to be looking for.

And in reference to your specific response:

What do you do when PoM jumps to a partymember who is not likely to take damage after it pops on the tank (presuming that's who you cast it on)? Doesn't the cooldown negate recasting as well as the wonderful mana efficiency of it? So you were pleased with the introduction of the PoM CD?

This is the first time I've ever seen a blue acknowledge that the shadowfiend is sloppy. Doesn't it bug you that he has a tendency to do anything other than what the tooltip says he's supposed to do? (i.e., pops CC making him a liability in any fight that requires it, runs off to tap a new group, goes for anything other than your target and chases mobs around effectively reducing damage output/mana return, sits there and looks idiotic for duration of his existence). If you do use him and consider him sloppy, don't you feel a little gypped?

And if SW:D made you happy every time you used it, can you blame people for being much less happy about having it's CD doubled? Was it providing far too much happiness at 6 seconds? God forbid.

I support the prayer of mending cooldown of ten seconds. I do not have a problem recasting the spell if it jumps to a low risk target, or someone else simply needs it more. It heals quite a bit per jump for very little mana, and scales incredibly well (40%) with +healing gear. I consider it one of the best spells on my bar.

This isn't the first time we've stated that the shadowfiend was sloppy. We've discussed the design intent behind a guardian vs. that of a pet on other occasions. Theses summons are meant to be a little sloppy, as they are not actually in your control, but temporarily protecting you.

We are still looking at improvements for the priest class, and there will be further improvements to the holy tree down the road. You'll just have to be patient. Things are no where near as bad as people are trying to make it seem, trust me.

The Shadow Word Death change is still being tested, if it's too much reduction to the abilities effectiveness, we'll address it. With that being said, in its current state, it's adding too much damage potential for the shadow priest.

Ouch lol, did you try to stick up for them (you) or just try and ignore it.

I've been in similar situations before and it's not fun :P

It's happened fairly often over the last couple of years. There was one guy who would rant about "Eyonix" daily in an extremely disturbing and violent manner. Ironically, he'd invite me to groups all the time, claiming I was his favorite priest.
