Lowest possible gfx settings (congif.wtf)

So I'm trying to run WoW on a crappy acer aspire 4715z, and turned all graphics and sound to lowest in-game settings. Frame rates are at best 20-30 and at worst 5-7 in cities. Now, I know the config.wtf file can be modified to get greater-than and lesser-than settings than the in-game UI allows. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on the lowest possible settings so this game will run semi-smoothly on my pos laptop. I've already uninstalled all trash apps that came with it and am of course running WoW as the only program running, so I'm gonna need some miracle settings. Thanks!

Hi Vordak,

There's a few unlisted settings you can try:

SET maxlights "1"
valid values: 1-4

SET vertexShaders "0"
valid values: 0-1, usually 1 makes it faster on cards capable of shaders

SET pixelShaders "0"
valid values: 0-1, usually 1 makes it faster on cards capable of shaders

SET M2UseShaders "0"
valid values: 0-1, usually 1 makes it faster on cards capable of shaders

SET M2Faster "0"
valid values: 0-1, no clue what it does. :P

Q u o t e:

uhh... that's disturbing

I was told of its existance and that it makes the game go back to the old pre-BC way of working with stuff, but not much more than that :)

It's very old and hardly recommended. The one time we tried to poke with it was when people were complaining that patch 2.1.0 "lowered" their FPS but research proved otherwise.

The forum search tool is broken so try doing a Google search with the site:forums.worldofwarcraft.com tag on it.

Q u o t e:

SET vertexShaders "0"
SET M2UseShaders "0"
SET M2Faster "0" or "1"
-- these had absolutely no effect

SET pixelShaders "0"
-- this line dissapeared after i logged out and opened config.wtf again

The question becomes... do you have a video card with shader support? The config.wtf file does not keep anything around that is already at "default" level.
