Other than the fantastic CG, do you know why we love them?
Its seeing the characters - as in the characters we all play, not the the lore characters - at least its not as important. As an individual player, whether or not its true, we think of ourselves as the core of the game, which is partially true because the game wouldn't exist without the players (obv). We've seen Arthas before anyhow, even if its not in this form.
We want to be able to see ourselves in these cinematics - even if its not our exact character. We want to feel a part of this wide world.
The TBC cinematic was so exciting, to see how our characters would be adventuring in these new lands. We know who Arthas is, we know what he wants us to do.
This was down right pitiful. Completely leaving out the playable characters is a huge mistake.
