When will WoW die? Will Blizzard intentionally kill it?

As we were running Scarlet Monastery (one of my favorite dungeons), a friend and i were discussing the Expansion Packs, the new MMO that Blizz is working on and the longevity of the most popular MMO of all time.

He seems to think that WotLK will be the final expac for WoW and that from that point on, Blizz's primary effort will be the completion, release and support of the new MMO. MY opinion is that it would ludicrous to simply let a game with 9 Million players (and their monthly subscriptions) be tossed aside and that the WoW business model will continue with new content for as long as its profitable.

Lets face it, WoW pushed MMO's into a new and totally unknown realm of success. I think that with a constant stream of quality, content-laden expacs, occasional model/graphical/animation upgrades (human males FIRST... please.. pleeease) that WoW could go on for at least as long again as it has already been out.

Its simply hard for me to conceive that Blizzard's new MMO could possibly knock WoW completely off the tracks. Of course, i could be wrong... what do YOU think?

We have plans even after Wrath of the Lich King. The story goes on though perhaps some of the main characters change or evolve and new ones come into the light (or darkness if you wish.)

People like to talk about this topic because they are sure there has to be an end and yet, we don't even know if there is one ourselves. We have a slew of ideas, talent, and drive to keep pushing to see how far we can go. We aren't slowing down just yet and we aren't done yet.

You're in a very good mood. Is it payday in your office too?

I am often in a good mood unless put into a bad one, but I keep that on the inside and let the voices in my head work it out. ;)
