Account Wide TCG Vanity Items

So, I'll try to keep this short and to the point, why are TCG items character specific? I'm specifically referring to vanity items as the title suggests as obviously mounts and pets are account wide now, however why are vanity items not?

I know in terms of difficulty to implement it might be challenging changing years old items to Bind on Account, I'm no programmer nor will I try to talk about how it's an easy fix blah blah blah, but what I'm asking is why was this never addressed? The reason I find this to be strange is so, Blizzard has their own vanity item, the Murloc costume. The Murloc costume is a BoA item, a vanity item that Blizzard itself implemented from Blizzcon, so why is it that the Blizzcon item a BoA yet TCG items aren't?

TCG items are in and of themselves a luxury and I totally understand that, however if TCG items are such a luxury then why would you allow your own vanity item to be BoA?? Just something I was pondering over while staring at every single TCG tabard(that are now 200+on ebay due to it being UDE points redemption and them being obsolete)on my rogue that I haven't touched competitively since Ulduar, or having to buy a second Epic Purple Shirt and Pedestal on my DK because I no longer play my paladin.

I appreciate the game, and have loved playing it since the beginning, I love this game, and appreciate it much more after trying other MMO's(let's just say The Old Republic made me love this game), I've been with you guys since the beginning and in no way is this something that's going to make me quit or will I threaten that in some rage fueled rant

I was just wondering if there's ever a hope that we might see that, because it almost seems a bit uneven thinking to me that murloc costume would be BoA however TCG items wouldn't be. It's 2 seperate entities and there's the obvious "buying 2 pedestals is more than buying one so more profit"however the money that people spend is usually going to the person who broke the boxes not Cryptozoic, which still means more boxes broken to get said item thus more profit in their pockets, thus we keep it BoP, however I just think that when you get that rare item it should belong to the account not to the specific character. Sure Cryptozoic might lose a 10th of what they make selling booster boxes, however that won't stop people from buying massive amounts still to get the items to sell, it won't deflate those item values as much as people think, it will still be a thriving market, seeing as we have roughly 10 million or more accounts that probably will get activated at one point or another and one will say "Gee, I think my level 1 would look hot in an Epic Purple Shirt."

Or even the UDE items? I mean it would look really good on you guys to make those items BoA seeing as UDE really slapped not only Blizzard but the fans in the face by just completely disregarding the points system and severing business ties. I don't necessarily want to get into it, seeing as it was probably a very frustrating situation, but giving back to the fans on your end by making those items BoA would really show your support by getting behind us on an already infuriating issue(UDE making points obsolete not Vanity items being BoA in general)

So my short and concise post turned into a TL;DR, but I just would like to see something like this in the future.

We're working on doing that with a Toy Box tab along with a number of additional improvements to declutter the inventory system. Toys and fun items go there and will be accessible to characters on an account-wide basis.

Here's the information I was able to gather. Keep in mind that the Toybox feature is still early in development. Some of the questions may not have an answer yet and functionality may be subject to change as development continues on the feature.

What happens to items that need to be equipped?

Such as:

Orb of Deception
Super Simian Sphere
Burgy Blackheart's Handsome Hat
Time-Lost Figurine

Would be amazing if we no longer had to equip them! ^_^

Currently, the idea is to have fun item effects be converted into something similar to a spell. You'll be able to activate the effect without equipping the item.

I have a disco ball and picnic basket loot card sitting beside me. Wonder if I should hold onto them.

You should hold onto your items.

Omg, thank you so much for this improvement!

This means that all of those archaeology toys will be included too?

I have plenty on this character, but I simply cannot bare to level and grind all that again on any other toon I have. I've tried, but gave up.

And that's a plus for inv space :) I'm so cluttered with toys that half of my inventory holds either them or transmogs.

Yes, fun items obtained through the Archeology profession will be included in the Toybox tab. But please continue hanging onto those items while details are still being worked out.

What about my Haunted Memento?... please!!!

We don't know how that item will interact with the Toybox tab yet as it has a number of special qualities (can be thrown, its effect is activated by simply having it in your inventory). The important thing is none of the items are being removed. If an item doesn't make it into the Toybox tab, the item will remain as it always has.

The net effect will still be more inventory space for you.

I have Sylvanas' Music Box sitting in the bank unused, i need it account wide.

Some items may be character specific if we find a need for it. Still, a vast majority of the items in the Toybox will be account-wide.

3. Please don't remove quest items like Archmage Vargoth's staff (can't link it for some reason)! I heard quest items won't be placed in your inventory anymore. Please make the exception for these types of items!

We'll be keeping an eye out for quest items that players have been holding onto for fun and won't convert it into a quest item so it wouldn't go away.

Been wanting to know: what about gear with fun effects, like Jade Raccoon? My main's inventory is full of this kind of stuff.

We haven't determined what will or won't be considered a toy and recommend that you don't vendor or delete anything just yet.

You should create a new post with all the items that can go in both the "Toy" and "Heirloom" tabs. That way players could discuss any items they believe should be added or removed from either tab.

Feasibility for the creation of such a list can be looked at later in the testing process once more information is available.

I have Sylvanas Music Box on two toons.... does that get condensed into one item with a shared cooldown between all my toons or can it be made to have two "charges" before setting the cooldown? Or even two separate "toy entries" in the new book or whatever it is?

We're still undecided on how the cooldowns will work at this time.

A final disclaimer. This feature is still early in development. Depending on how it works out once we're able to test it, some things may change. The goal of the Toybox is to free up inventory space. Items that don't make it into the Toybox because of technical or other reasons should still be left alone with no change.

what about Dartol's Rod of Transformation? Please tell me we aren't going to lose this fun item...that we've abused the system and have been able to keep due to the averted eyes of devs....*cough*

Sorry if this has been asked already; I just saw the blue comments on mmo-champion and had to ask. Has any discussion been made on how charge based items will function? On the timeless isle, there's at least 8 or 9 items that could be considered toys, but have limited uses to them. Like the weather effect stones and the Falling Flame item. Any chance these will be in the toybox as a perma item? *crosses fingers tightly*

Depending on how the tech works out, we may or may not be able to incorporate items that have a limited number of charges into the Toybox.
