Since our original thread got highjacked by other folks that are looking for beta invites, problems with their keys, etc........... I thought I would start a new thread in hopes of getting a pretty blue answer.

So far, all the dell laptop folks that have posted have also stated they are enrolled in the Beta Club. Please, please, please can you give us an answer as to when our beta invites will go out?

Its friday..........we waited through the suggestion that we would have an answer Thursday morning....just let us know the status.

Thanks!

This isn't about having problems with keys. This is about beta club members not getting invite emails to get into the beta. I don't know how we can be any more clear. And the email I got back from wowbetabilling was worthless. See my previous post.

This is what I mean--if you have not received your invites. Invites are keys. I understand what you're saying.

I'm speaking with Billing now and seeing what the deal is.

Okay, here's the sitch.

Your Beta Club invites should already have gone out. If you have not received them yet, Billing is investigating this very issue, but due to the office hours an answer won't be available until Monday morning. I likely wasn't clear enough in my first inquiry into the matter, so you have my personal and direct apologies for this delay.

I'm dedicated to getting you guys into the beta, testing and having fun, so the moment I get any new information I'll pass it along to you here. In the event that I'm not here when the information is received, I've tasked my feathery colleague Aredek with relaying said info until I'm in for the day.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please let me know here.

So should we receive a key, or will our accounts just be flagged for the beta and allow us to create the temporary beta account?

Yes, I did not recieve the key, and I believe I entered my key sometime last week.

That's why! The last batch of BlizzCon invites was from those who entered their code prior to the 14th, so you're likely just in the next wave. No, I don't have an ETA for you, but I doubt it'll be too long.

I haven't Bought a Dell Wow Laptop, nor did i attend any Blizzcons, but I did opt in, i was wondering when those emails would be sent out, im in high hopes to get one, is there any criteria, does anyone know if theres something we need to be chosen for beta testing, and if were not chosen will they send us an email telling us that? it would be much more convenient than sitting around waiting for mail you're never gonna get. And i apologize if this is the wrong thread, but i found this one, and i decided to post.
Thanks

I'll touch on this only briefly because this thread is more intended for the Dell questions, but opt-in invites are random--it's a lottery. You won't be sent an email saying "you weren't picked".

Well. I'm happy to hear from Blue about it... but I can't tell you how disappointed I am that this is two weekends in a row I won't be able to try the Beta... because weekends are pretty much the only time I will be able to test it. The week is reserved for my day job and my night job (raiding :P).

I think if there is a problem with our keys it's probably because we weren't supposed to be sent keys, our accounts were just supposed to be upgraded. Maybe they need to look into the mechanism.

I am so disappointed :(

Also... darnit... quit hijacking our thread...

No, I've done cursory examinations of near every account in this thread to make sure that you were properly flagged for Beta Club. You're good.

And you've every right to be disappointed. It's just poor timing on my part, really--coming back from my weekend (Weds/Thurs this week) meant answers have to be stalled until Monday.

It sounds like there is conflicting information going around. You're saying that all Dell laptop owners should have already received their e-mail and then when we e-mail asking about it they say we will get it eventually. I really appreciate your help in this matter. I do hope that it can get fixed relatively soon so all of us laptop owners can participate in what looks to be an amazing expansion beta.

There was indeed some conflicting information, though it was no one's fault in particular. At large we were informed that all Beta Club keys were sent out, and there are understandably people who still believe this is the case, hence my fervent investigation.

Q u o t e:

I joined the beta club on July 14th. Does that mean I just made the cut or will I have to wait even longer after the beta issue is resolved?

Q u o t e:

So, lets say I entered my blizzcon key today. Would that still be next wave?

I've not been informed of the cutoff date for the next wave, but if I find out, I'll let you know.
Q u o t e:

Thank you very much for the blue post! I have been trudgeing through these fourms for day trying to find an answer to our "Dell" problem.

just to get this right, do i need to email the wrath beta acount management and tell them i have not recived the key or are you trying to get our invites out .

just makeing sure I know what to do. Thanks

I would email just to be safe, in case something changes by the time I get my information on Monday.

Hey guys! Thanks for waiting.

There's another wave of invites intended to go out quite soon (within the week or thereabouts) and it should catch the remaining Beta Club folks who didn't get their invites.

If you do not receive your Beta Club invite mail in the next wave, follow up with me here and I'll do what I can.

Any chance they're squeezed out a little bit of info as to the ETA for the first wave of opt-ins?

There was already a wave of opt-ins. I don't have an ETA for the next, though. It's possible (though I can't guarantee it) that some will be in the wave I'm referring to in my posts above.

The whole point of the opt-ins was that there'd be random lotteries for them as the beta went on. Just because you didn't get your opt-in invite in one wave doesn't mean you won't get into the beta.

We're gonna need lots of testers! Don't worry so much.

I don't anticipate there'll be much fanfare when opt-in invites go out, at least not from us. Anything's possible, though.

I know, I know, it's like waiting for college acceptance letters. Even if you know it might take all summer, you still check your mailbox every day.

As far as play regions are concerned, Oceanic players are in the "US" group. I play on an Oceanic server myself due to my schedule.

Other play regions would include Europe, China, Korea, etc--those with their own localization of the game and local servers.

To eliminate any confusion regarding this issue, the following post has been edited:

After August 1, BlizzCon and WWI registration codes (as in those received at BlizzCon and the WWI) will not expire and may be valid for future waves of the Wrath of the Lich King Beta. The coming wave of beta invites, however, will incorporate only the BlizzCon and WWI attendees who registered their codes prior to August 1. That's all the date means.

To cut the head off of this freakout preemptively:

The beta invitations, as in the actual emails you receive from us with your beta key(s), are redeemable at your leisure.

To quote Bornakk on the General Forum:
Q u o t e:
If you have obtained promotional beta codes from last year’s BlizzCon or from this year’s Worldwide Invitational event in Paris, please be sure to register your codes [http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/misc/beta-signup.html] as soon as possible.

These promotional codes will apply only to the Wrath of the Lich King beta. The latest date to register the codes for the current round of beta invitations is Friday, August 1. Codes registered after this date will not be eligible for beta entry until a later date, so we encourage everyone to register early and be part of the vanguard into Northrend.

This comes back to my original point. Rather than making this into a Lottery System, award Beta invites to people who actually are known to contribute for the purpose of enhancing the playability of WoW and the general knowledge base of the game. Stickies and max post threads are a great place to start. I'm sure these kind of people are more willing to spend time providing actual feedback to not only you guys, but members of their communities (Specifically Class Forums) who grasp at every straw that reads Wrath of the Lich King Information. Having that funnel from well known people is nothing but a plus both ways. Am I wrong in seeing it this way?

We've awarded many helpful posters with beta keys--you can even see a lot of them on the beta forum right now.

We need all kinds of players, of course--nubs, scrubs, QQers, et al. Everyone can have valid feedback, whether they realize it or not. This is where the lottery comes in.

This I don't know, but I'm willing to be that since the beta will be going on for a while and the Beta Club itself doesn't have any time limit that you may still be able to get into the Wrath beta.

Hey Belfaire, sort of a variation of a question that has been asked.

I opted into the beta when it was offered, but forgot that my registered email was a dead account. I changed it yesterday, but was curious if there was any way to tell if my account had been chosen in the first wave of opt-ins and have the message resent to the correct address, currently on file. Sorry if this one was asked, but I didn't see it.

You can contact wowbetabilling@blizzard.com, but I may have been incorrect when I said that opt-in invites had already been sent out once before (another fact I'm attempting to clarify).

If they weren't sent, you have nothing to worry about, since the invites will be sent to your updated address. At this point it's safest to assume that none have been sent out yet.

So wait first, you say that a wave has gone out and the next one should be within the next week or w/e, and now you find you released information you weren't supposed to and you have to say that a wave didn't go out? Or were you just sayin the first wave went out cuz you thought it did? I'm confused and am bout to have a heart attack waiting to see if i get in lol.

Everyone is confusing a number of different kinds of invites.

I said previously that a large amount of Dell Beta Club invites already went out. This is true.

I said previously that invite wave after August 1st is supposed to catch the remaining Dell Beta Club, BlizzCon, and Worldwide Invitational registrants. This is true.

I said previously that there was a wave of opt-ins that went out. This may not be true, so I'm seeking clarification.

People said that I said this next wave would incorporate opt-ins. I did not say that.
