WWI & BlizzCon Beta Codes

#0 - July 25, 2008, 5:50 a.m.
Blizzard Post
If you have obtained promotional beta codes from last year’s BlizzCon or from this year’s Worldwide Invitational event in Paris, please be sure to register your codes [http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/misc/beta-signup.html] as soon as possible.

These promotional codes will apply only to the Wrath of the Lich King beta. The latest date to register the codes for the current round of beta invitations is Friday, August 1. Codes registered after this date will not be eligible for beta entry until a later date, so we encourage everyone to register early and be part of the vanguard into Northrend.

Look, guys. I know you're here. You've seen me post about these keys, you know I'm looking into all manner of beta stuff, so please don't act as if acts of desperation are your only recourse to make yourselves known to me.

Billing's looking into the BlizzCon/WWI key distribution now as well as the Dell keys.

Will have to Investigate, do all that jazz.

And the biggest point here is that the Dell accounts have priority over BlizzCon. As I have said from the start, being in Beta Club sounds, at least to me, like they should have dibbs on invites over other people.

We will be second hand and likely be investigated second, if at all, until someday by luck we get our invite. The more I look at this, the more Ebay is looking very friendly, but alas...already have one, but not quite...

I'm trying really hard to be patient here every time I reiterate that I'm not prioritizing either group. Everybody was supposed to get invites, so everybody should have gotten them. If people did not get them, that's one group--People Who Did Not Get Their Invites But Were Supposed To. We're working on that One Group.

Question for you belfaire, Blizzard wanted us to register before august 1st for the next upcoming wave. Do you know what day after august 1st they planned on sending that wave? The reason i ask because maybe billing already thought the wave went out?

Guys, I'm not gonna post saying I don't have an update. Even though technically that's what this is.

The appropriate people are aware of the issue, and though I can't guarantee the invites will go out tonight, I can say that we understand the importance of getting them out.

Your patience has been saintly, far more than I could ever ask for--but I do need to ask for a little more.

Registered and received confirmation on August 4th. No complaints here, just curious what you planned to do with the folks that missed the communication about there being an August 1st cutoff. Does that mean we are waiting on Diablo III Beta? I am really hoping to get some information for my guild about what to expect from playing in the WotLK Beta. In any case, great job in keeping everyone at bay here in this thread and I appreciate any information you can provide.

Even having registered after the 1st, you're still eligible for the Wrath beta, we just have no ETA on when that future wave will go out. Don't ask ;p

I'm hoping that he is mistaken, or maybe a bit out of the loop. It's just a bit hard to believe considering the mixed messages that we've been given, and what has happened already thus far. If things are as you say, maybe you can leave a note for your daytime compatriots so that they are no longer in the dark, and we can be given consistent message from Blizzard.

Whatever the outcome, thank you for all you've done concerning these matters. You've been most helpful.

We've all been looking forward to these keys going out. Vrak was informed that codes were sent out today (before I arrived at the office). We discovered this not to be the case, alerted the proper folks, etc.

Is this just Blizzard way of trying to hide.. after 3 or so weeks I might add.. the fact that they lost all our emails?

Although I'm expecting you to give the blizzard answer, not the Belf answer.. unfortunately.

The Belf answer is no. They definitely have your emails, but not everyone has sent an email. Pretty much everybody, on the other hand, has posted here, and if they haven't, they're likely to.

People also tend to send us emails from addresses that aren't registered to their account. When we have both pieces of correct information, it makes things much easier.

Also note the fact that they waited until almost the end of the day, when Belfaire got in, to make the stickies asking for everyone's email address. They could have done that any time during the day yesterday but they wasted almost a full day just waiting for him to get in. Any blue could have made that post.

Just keep that in mind when thinking about how Blizzard handles the beta key distribution. They probably aren't even collecting email addresses that people have posted today because Belfaire is off. They are probably waiting until he comes back in Sunday to continue the process.

Prove me wrong blizz?

I'm not even in today, but this a particularly vexing post that I needed to address.

The reason "they" waited until I got in to work to post those stickies was because I posted those stickies after receiving the information soon after I got in to work. The info I got came undelayed.

"They" is me. I am "they". There was no full day wasted.

Shooting down irrational fear number two: There are currently members of my team monitoring those very threads and collecting your information.

I need to be clear here--this is not an instantaneous process. There's fact-checking to be done. You will likely not receive your keys today or tomorrow. You can tell me it's a simple thing, but it's not.

And as for bumping the thread to keep it in our mind's eye, I can say that it's unnecessary. When I get home, I check these threads. When I go grocery shopping, I think "I wonder how many pages have been posted since I left for the day." When I'm at Stubb's tonight, you can pretty safely guarantee I'll be thinking about your beta keys.

And to prove my point, here I am! On my day off! Posting in a beta key thread.

We just don't have anything to add at this point in time. As soon as we know more, we'll provide an update as quickly as possible. We are — and especially Belfaire — working as hard as possible to get this issue resolved, but unfortunately it takes time and it takes a lot of information gathering to ensure that everyone experiencing the issue is not passed up.

Honestly? As a customer? I'd love to participate in the beta, but I understand that it's a testing phase for something thats going to be released in an official capacity later on.

I've always loved participating in betas and pre-release things, but it's never been a major priority for me to do so when I know that I'll be able to play the finalized version at a later date.

So, in other words I wouldn't be particularly affected by something of this nature. I know that some of you are probably going to say that I'm just saying that, but you're welcome to believe what you like. ^_^

As the comments regarding the Opt-In e-mails being sent out are rampant, I'd like to clear something up.

The Opt-In process has little, if nothing to do with your issue or concerns. The Opt-In system has it's own time table that needs to be meet in order to ensure that the appropriate development concerns are met.

We're trying to get your keys, but the Opt-In e-mails are not related specifically. Yes, they're beta key e-mails, but just because those went out, it doesn't mean that your issues are not being addressed.
