Tseric: "Druids not 'altogether' healbots"

I think amid all the QQing and baiting and taunting, people have overlooked an important shift in blizzards role for druids, and tanks in general.

Tseric: "While the devs felt these changes were needed to tone down certain effects that were playing out on live realms, it is not their intention to eliminate Bear tanking as an option altogether."

Notice the last word.

Its basically the same as saying "it is our intention to eliminate Bear tanking in many situations, but not all"

Druids, this is important to understand. Whether its right or wrong, blizzard does not want you to be viable tanks in many situations. If you dont like this, its time to reroll or quit the game.

The huge impact on druids tanking that we are now seeing on the test realm (yes, feral druids can tank... sort of, its kind of like when an arms warrior tanks using a 2 hander and not a shield, and in battle stance), is not a miscalculation.

This isnt a flame post on druids, personally Id much prefer you remain viable tanks.

But stop thinking that these changes are not intentionally.

Blizzard obviously, and directly, does not want you to remain viable tanks for many situations, only a few.

No, it's not the same at all or even basically. You're reading too much into the words.

When the changes hit, my words were a response to people saying Bear tanking was now useless. I thought that stance was and is absurd, so my words were conditional while others were absolute.

I contended that it was an option, while the sentiment on the boards was bear tanking was obsolete.

Context. I love it when people put me in it.

Wait, what? No return on threat multipliers or at least something to compensate?

Everybody wants 'compensation' for a nerf. Not reason enough to treat it that way.

Q u o t e:
if these changes are intended to fix pvp issues, why did they break pve tanking?

Who said this was purely a PVP or PVE change?

Further, Tseric goes on to suggest that this is intended -- not as a minor tweak -- but to generally remove bear tanks as a rule, as a viable tank option.

I don't see where I've said that. I find your assertion somewhat baffling, as I thought I clearly said otherwise in my first reply.

Pallys and Druids are intended to and are able to fill tanking roles. Does that mean they're going to main tank every dungeon? No, because encounters are varied enough that certain classes abilities will simply match the situation better or maybe you don't even require a main tank, but several off-tanks.

Your assertion that druids tanking being removed or eliminated is not something we agree with. The ease with which it was occurring prior to this patch is the issue. It was too easy and it was obvious. If it really comes down to Druids not being able to generate enough threat to even tank a five-person dungeon, then I'm sure the devs will make changes to bring them back into play as filling tank roles.
