Engineering deception

Hi all

I'm a Gnomish Engineer. I have levelled Engineering ages ago and the pain is still vivid in my mind.
Of all the items i have created (not that many available to begin with) the only i use on a relatively regular basis is Field repair bot.
I might have used the Tanaris teleport a few times (a couple to my death), maybe a Gnomish death ray here and there for the novelty of it (but it usually doesn't go off for various reasons) and made each of the dragonlings but frankly 1h cooldown and the dmg output is meh.

So now i'm wondering why/if i should level up to 375..
I've looked at the craftable items and am not impressed at all.
- the potion injectors are a nice idea but in the end only save a couple bag space
- the Poultrizer could be fun, but it's not an actual Crowd control. Players can still attack/flee etc AND it costs an arm and a leg to craft
- The rocket turret is probably going to hit for nothing again
- the epic head pieces are not even socketed.
- the mailbox? why? there is a mailbox in every bloody town

The only item i would look forward to is the Nigh Invulnerability Belt, but like any gnomish item it has more chances to get me killed than to actually be helpfull. /sigh.

I was a tailor before. Now when i look at all the new tailoring patterns i say wow!
So many epics, and good ones too. ALL Bind on Pickup :(
Bags, nets, lots of stuff, and with mats that drop from most mobs in Azeroth!

Got a Alchemist alt, again WoW! so many potions, and beneficial to all classes. As an engineer i can make Tonk controllers. yay.
Took a look at blacksmiths, Nice! upgradable items, lots of epics etc. As an engineer i can make fireworks. yay.

I just feel that there is no point at all in levelling Engineering. Not levelling engineering looks actually much smarter since i'll save alot of gold in doing so.
I know i could spend a few hours grinding up tailoring again (so easy compared to Engineering) but if i do that i'm sure that there will suddenly be an awesome new item in engineering :(

Is there any hope?
As you can see i'm a priest.. Can anyone show me any piece of engineering that would actually be useful and reliable for me, once?

I don't know..There is plenty of stuff that can be made. Examples:
- A 'real' mana injector? a full mana refill on a 30min cooldown (with a 25% chance to empty mana pool instead)?
- A 'real' poultrizer that works like a crowd control (and not like another shrink ray) and actually disable the target for 15sec
- A healing pet robot that heals a target for say 250 every other second for x seconds (bit like the golems in Jewelcrafting) on a 30 minute cooldown ?
- Trinkets that gives +5mp5 or +5hp5 and can be used to get +100mp5 or +100hp5 for a minute? on a 5minute cooldown?

Something that would actually be worth crafting and be used more than once or twice to show guildies.

Thanks for reading this,

Q u o t e:

how about stuff useable in arenas?

We really have to be careful as there's a fine line between an optional profession and a requirement to stay competitive.
