What happens when account expires

Hey I was just wondering if anyone could answer my question. I was wondering what happens to you character if you let your account expire? Do you lose all your characters or is your account still on file. If they keep your account on file for how long do they do so? If anyone could answer my question that would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning, Arianastarr!

When an account expires all characters will remain active indefinitely, at this time they will not be deleted. If any change to this is made in the future an announcement will be made on our main page (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/). Please note that mail and any other time restrictive items will expire as normal, despite the account being inactive.
