Why are ASCII letters not allowed in names?

I've asked account management several times and it seems they always give me the same exact message everytime that it hinders communication. This I understand, but it shouldn't matter especially if I play the game with my friends only and no one else. I don't care about guilds, I dont care about other people playing to tell you the truth either. So why are you guys making me change my name? I want to keep my ascii letters because a)i like my name b)the name without the letters is unavailable even though the I can't seem to every see an active Bubba. Please respond and give me a better reason besides the fact that it hinders communication, as I don't want to be communicated by other players anyways.

There are many reasons for this. Some of the key ones are centered on the lack of in-game interaction with such names. These high ASCII names contain letters that are not easily replicated by other players. This in turn means you can not be easily invited to parties or guilds but more insidiously this also makes you much harder to /target in PvP or to be added to an ignore list.

Matus, make sure you have Sort by Latest Reply, selected. You'll find the drop down menu in the upper right corner of the forum page.

I'll be locking this thread and letting this very old thread rest now. :D
