No bumping eh?

If we aren't supposed to 'bump' but a post does slip through the cracks, how are we supposed to bring your attention to it? Sometimes there just isn't any extra information or whatevs to make a 'proper' post.

On the whole, Wolvenkin, "bumping" threads unnecessarily is a practice we wish to discourage; it often does little, if anything, to provide a meaningful contribution to a discussion, and usually accomplishes naught but littering the topic with monosyllabic posts. As such, our general stance is that bumping is disallowed; this is not to say, however, that select circumstances cannot prevail and cause us to deem a subtle "bump" acceptable on a purely case-by-case basis. You should be able to use your best judgment, but here are some examples just in case:

Potentially Acceptable:
"Hey, it's been about a day and I still haven't gotten any response. Have there been any updates regarding my issue?"

This is polite, understanding, and generally constructive. This would probably not result in the thread being locked.

Most Likely Unacceptable:

Example #1:
7:00 p.m. "Have you fixed my issue yet?"
7:06 p.m. "This is a slap in the face."
7:10 p.m. "You GMs are pathetic."
7:13 p.m. "Anything yet? C'mon!"

This not only constitutes spamming, but is rather impatient and unconstructive; it would likely result in the thread being locked.

Example #2:

(Two months after previous response.) "I agree, this is something that really needs to be fixed. What's the deal, huh?"

This is what those in the know call "thread necromancy," and merely serves to dredge up old and tired topics of yore; in this situation, it would be more prudent to create a new thread regarding the issue, rather than bumping another from months prior. This thread would be locked.

So remember:

Goofus bumps threads needlessly, sometimes after months have elapsed.

Gallant politely brings threads back up to the top when the situation calls for it.

Do you want to be like Goofus, or Gallant? That question I leave to you, ladies and gents. ;)

Q u o t e:
if I resurect a bunch of old threads, can I become a necromancer like in Diablo 2?

If you're asking whether resurrecting threads will imbue you with the power to control the legions of the damned... no. :P

Goofus and Gallant are still out there?!? They must be gray-haired and using walkers by now!!

Well, Gallant is. Goofus broke his trying to "surf" down a grass hill, but you know how he is...
