Blizzard Post
Ever since the mention of Blizzard adding new character models for all vanilla races surfaced at Blizzcon there have been countless debates on what the new human models should look like. (I say models because I assume the female one will also be updated ?)

That aside, the one thing I keep seeing on these threads and other threads on MMO champion and such is a request to have a smaller, leaner, youthful model for the human male. This irritates me to great heights.

1: Warcraft follows a very bubbly and animated art style that tends to exaggerate everything, be that character physiques, massive weapons, bright colors, or masculinity/femininity.

2: The human male model, while dated, looks wonderful in most armor sets and is considered one of the most symmetric models for displaying gear, specifically plate.

I hope that Blizzard will retain the very classic fantasy hero look for the male human and not hollywoodize it like a lot of newer MMO's are doing these days.. I realize the physique size is a problem for a lot of you, that is understandable, especially for those in the roleplaying community who play a mage or elderly type. But I would much rather have burly chested mages than Brad Pitt or Matt Damon sized fury warriors.

Warcraft is not realistic, it is epic, and if classic fantasy artists from the Golden Age taught us anything it is that strength and prowess comes off as more epic. This does not even mean that the new model has to exhibit the pro-bodybuilding look of the previous, but that it at least look strong and capable enough as a fantasy hero and not a Hollywood one..

I think the same can be said about the female models as well.. I do not want Megan Fox running around looking as though she should topple over at any moment with the double handed sword she carries. The fitness model tone and mass of the female body is fine.
