Do rating reqs on honor gear make sense?

I just hit 70 last week on my druid, so my gear isn't that great. I'm doing bgs for honor so I can get the gear to start doing arenas. Right now I only have 200 resil, 700 +healing and 8k hp. How far could I go ratings wise just so I can get the honor gear to actually start competing in arenas?

Then once you've stack up on the gear that doesn't require a personal rating you should be in a much better position to compete for the pieces that do require it. :)
