Death Knight for Any Race? Lame…

The only criteria for rolling a DK is having a level 55 character on the realm that you want to roll, right? Every other class has race restrictions - why should the DK get a free pass?

Draenei? The can’t be Rogues because it’s not ‘honorable’, but they can float a DK because even though the “character goes to become a Death Knight, (and) is trained as a Death Knight", they then “(realized that) they don't want to go through with the evil acts that they are instructed to perform” (from Bornakk at http://www.wowwiki.com/Starting_a_death_knight)

Gnomes? Seriously, does that even come close to fitting into any sort of lore?

Tauren? Dwarves?

Stupid.

Corruption and redemption are not always race specific. Virtue can be twisted into a proverbial pretzel until it becomes something unrecognizable. We do plan to have more information revealed within the game, however, that explains a bit more about how these Death Knights have come about and why they are doing what they are doing.

We're all for people explaining why they feel a certain way about things in the works, but let's try to express it a bit more constructively rather than wholesale tossing out story and lore as disposable. Believe it or not, lore is taken into account as much as possible and is expanded upon wherever possible, but some decisions are born from what we feel will make fun gameplay experiences as well.

Oh just stop. The lollore went out the window years ago. Trying to justify this just makes you look stupid considering the limitations placed on races to play certain classes.

Try to remember that being constructive doesn't involve calling someone else stupid. I get being passionate about something, and I fully understand the passion people have for this issue. I also understand that sometimes it's easy enough to think that you're going to play a certain way and then end up changing your mind later based on the availability of more options. I knew guilds that started playing WoW with race restrictions as a part of their guild and then ended up changing that as people became interested in playing other classes. While holding to your own lore can be great, sometimes it's more fun to engage in a little extra flexibility to enhance that fun.

Lolzor, Tauren death knight?! That's gonna be weird... But also awesome.

Just think how frightening it will be for gnomes everywhere.
