Why am I a Starter Account?

I bought the game last night, it says on my battle net account that I bought it and my account is linked to the full version YET in-game it says im still a starter account and it is not letting me do anything. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? I need to level! Please help, somebody! Also I have mail from another character with gold on it and it wont appear in my box but it says I have it.
Why is this happening?
PS the game is not totally done downloading but its in the green.

And yes, as stated above, the entire process can take up to 72 hours to complete. Hang in there, you should be ready to go by the weekend.
