Portrait missing or upside down.

For the past few weeks I've been having an issue where the portrait of my character and other characters are sometimes missing or upside down. I deleted my entire World of Warcraft folder and reinstalled. I then ran WoW with out installing any addons and still had the issue. I just recently downloaded the 2.4.3 PTR client and it happens there also.

I'm on a 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo iMac with 2 GB of memory and a 256MB ATI Radeon X1600. My OS is at 10.5.3.

This issue isn't game breaking, but is annoying none the less. Does any one have any suggestions on how I might fix it?

Thank You

Hello Sokar,

I normally see this when some 3rd party AddOns are changing the icon, but since you have tested this without any 3rd party AddOns, not disabled but completely deleted, can you post your computer specs ?

Apple Menu => About This Mac => More Info... => post the following:
Hardware (remove the Serial Number line)
Graphics/Displays
Memory

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

To test without 3rd party AddOns:

With the game closed please go to Mac HD => Applications => World of Warcraft Æ’older and:

1. delete the CACHE Æ’older
2. move WTF and INTERFACE Æ’olders to the desktop

Moving them to the desktop makes it easy to replace them if necessary.

Hey Sokar,

Are you running Mac OS 10.5.5 ? And did you get that from the Apple Menu => Software Update or did you download the Mac OS 10.5.5 Combo Update ?:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1055comboupdate.html

Since it only happens when in Window Mode, I keep thinking it's due to a graphic card driver. The Combo update had over 200 MB or extra updates that didn't make it to the Software Update version. Also any way to test on another computer ?

Hello Sokar,

The reason why I wanted to see what happens on another computer was to see if it's something going on on the server/realm side, if it was I would recommend getting a GM to take a look at it, but since you tested this, then it has to be something going on on your computer, which allows us a nice elimination of possible suspects. Thanks for the update, and let me know what happens with the Combo update.

Evening Sokar,

So it was a graphics driver issue. How nice. Thank you so much for the update, I'll have to remember the X1600 graphics card in the future for those upgrading to Mac OS 10.5. Thanks again for letting me know.
