New level cap = extremely disappointing.

I am so, so sick of playing games where the level cap is raised. I want a finished character. I want to be able to roll alts. I want to be able to level to the max and experience end game content in a reasonable amount of time. I want things I work for to stop becoming obsolete. What do you guys keep doing? You keep raising the bar, and Outlands will fall into the same category as Azeroth - useless and unused. Blackrock Mountain is a ghost town, so are all the instances in and around it - if you don't believe me go look, that spot used to be the hub of action. I am so disappointed to read this, I have been with you guys since launch and played 2 different classes to their caps. Everything I work for between now and the expansion will sit in the back of my mind as only being transient and of no real value. Why? Because when The next expansion comes out everything we have worked so hard to own and be proud of will become junk, just like last time. Gotta get that money tho right blizzard, did it ever occur to you that just adding CONTENT is enough?

Aren't you guys making enough money? I pray to god people petition this at some point. Try to imagine what rolling a new char will be like when 80 is the cap, it'll be pathetic. There's nothing fun about all that PvE to 95% of us who play PvP servers.

Thanks for letting me know everything I wanted for my account will be a waste of time come next release. And wth is this 1 hero class thing? My friend told me you have to be paladin to then become a DK, I hope that's a joke. I wanted to read up on it but once I saw the "new levels of power" garbage I figured I wouldn't be playing by that point anyway.

Remembers guys, nothing you work for or do before the next expansion will be anything but wasted time, there are no assets when the company in charge keeps making everything obsolete.

I think what you're looking for is Diablo 2.

In World of Warcraft we've adopted a model similar to previous MMO's and even some single player RPG's, and that is enabling character progression through raising the level cap, and additionally through itemization once that level cap is reached. If you're hoping for an ending, to finish the game and find a place where your character has essentially obtained all possible power and become the lone hero, then I believe you may be expecting something that just isn't going to happen in this game.

I, at least, remember my past accomplishments fondly. I enjoyed the journey and experience to reach certain goals. Just because I've moved past that content doesn't completely invalidate everything I've done before, it doesn't mean it was worthless, it was the journey I took and the memories I have that keep it a worthwhile addition to my character.

Maybe I'm just a glass half full kind of guy.

Q u o t e:
I don't agree, which is why I will cancel before the xpac is released. It's unfortunate because I have played for 2 years and will miss raiding and my friends quite a bit but it seems this is going to be the way WoW goes. I was hoping TBC was the only level cap raise I would see for a long time.

It's probably still going to be a long time before the next expansion, an announcement doesn't mean it's coming in a couple weeks... or even months.

Some of you are being just a tad melodramatic.

You have a misconception though when you think people are looking for an ending. As far as I can tell, we are only looking for somewhere to stop and enjoy our "power" for a time and then move on to bigger and better things. Progressing your character does *not* have to mean a level increase. I think if Blizzard thought "outside the box" so to speak, they could think of many interesting ways to progress without leveling. This new xpac is just more of the same old, same old and some of us are sick of it. It's the same pattern over and over, doesn't that get old to you?

No, I still enjoy questing, and I'm looking forward to seeing what new story arcs and questlines there's going to be in Northrend. There was quite a bit of discussion of having quest lines that were far more ambitious than previously seen, that we'll be interacting with Arthas and the various dragon aspects during our time there. I look forward to gaining new spells and abilities, profession items, seeing new dungeons, new towns, new monsters and items, new enemies and friends like the Vrykul and Tuskarr.

I mean, there's always going to be advancements, like... I guess the siege weapons come to mind, but it's still the same game. We could definitely have an expansion where the level cap isn't raised, but all that does is stop a number from moving, it doesn't accomplish anything else. We still want progression, some way to make your character cooler, or more powerful, because that's the basis of the game, it's the basis of the entire RPG genre even beyond MMO's.

All the older content ends up as junk. What happened to Naxx? I got halfway through it but other guilds who would have gotten there to see it when it was relevant are now left in the cold. It was the BEST designed instance you have ever made and I find it horribly sad that so few got to see it and that it was obsolete not long after it's birth.

Yeah, there was really not a whole lot of time between Naxxramas and the release of TBC. It's already been mentioned several times however that Naxxramas fits in really well with the idea and lore of Northrend... so there's always a possibility there. Also, as I said before, I wouldn't expect Wrath to be out any time soon. It was just an announcement.
