Do people REALLY care about AV that much?

I'm am in NO way trying to stick up for the afk leech people in the cave and whatnot, but do people really want people in the game actually trying to win making the AV games take the time they used to? I mean, they were easily all 2+ hour games and all that mindless killing is no fun after awhile.

I'm sure it's just the fact that people that are afk are in fact, leeching off of others work, but if it was like it used to be, then people would just !#%!* about how the map is unfair and whatnot.....

AV is easily the worst bg in the game and I just don't understand why people want this big, long, crappy, bg played "How it should be."

There's plenty of smaller, quicker PvP encounters. All of the other battlegrounds, and certainly the arenas. The idea of large scale battles really appeals to a lot of people. That may not be everyone, but it's definitely something I think most people would like to be involved in from time to time. It's something we like, and want to incorporate in new ways into the game. We obviously made some changes to Alterac Valley that made it a much shorter affair though. While we like the epic feel of a large-scale battle, having it turn into an 18 hour stalemate really isn't that rewarding for each player. That said, we're certainly aware of the issues that affect the battleground as it stands now and are working towards solutions, but we're not discussing what those are just yet.

I would really like a blue response that has some substance to it rather than one that eludes to the problems at hand and promises that they're working on it.

Me too, but for those you'll have to wait until actual final implementation, circulation of information to all of our community teams throughout the world, translation, and eventual release. Right now I can tell you that we're aware of the issues and working towards a solution, and if it's not satisfactory that I'm going beyond our normal information releases to let you know we're aware of something, then you may want to avoid the forums and stick to the front page news.

Personally, I appreciate you at least addressing the issue, Drysc, but actions speak louder than words. We keep hearing that a solution is being looked into, but never see a fix in place. Considering how long this has gone on, I would think we have a right to be rather skeptical of your words at this point.

I can't recall a statement ever being made that we're looking at current AV balance or players who are not contributing to a battleground and are working to resolve it.

Do you really think the dude is just merrily flouncing around the forums making crap up to spite you? It's pretty safe to assume that if the man with the blue text says they're working on it, it's probably being worked on.

(Don't hold the engineering controversy against me, here. They're working on that! Just uh, gradually? I don't know. I'm trying. )

Don't worry about it, there's going to be grumpy little naysayers everywhere making it seem like we're only here to placate them and pull a veil of lie and deceit over their clairvoyant view of the game. I usually just ignore them, or ban them. I'm gonna go do that second one.

Oh, what a shock... It's been deleted.

It was working fine just yesterday, I wonder what made it suddenly get removed? Oops, my tinfoil cap must be getting loose again! But luckily the post on the WoW EU forums is still intact (for the moment):

Maybe it was posted by the guy I just postwiped? In any case I don't believe I know every post that's ever made, so sure it could have been stated, but I'm not aware of those statements being made. The EU post you linked pretty much just says you can get banned for it, not that we're taking design action in attempts to cut down on the issue.

Whatever, I said we're aware and working on it, and that's just going to have to do for now. :)
