Shattrath City - Worst City

I honestly think Shattrath City is a worse city yet, even worse than Darnassus. The problems with Darnassus is that it is too big, things are too spread out and it is all separated by water. What's more it is also located away from most content.

The problems with Shattrath City are much the same, too big, and spaced out by multiple levels... I know blizzard designed it this way to reduce lag for people running ten year old computers but this design is terrible ...

The inns are miles away from both the flight master, portals and bank ... In fact I have to pop a light feather each time I hearth into the damn city just so I can go about my business which is less than impressive.

What's more there is an extreme lack of guards around town ... You need to find a guard to tell you the locations of guards ...

Summary ("Why Shattrath sucks"):
- Inconsistent
Some vendors are on the lower level, some on platforms, some on buildings some outside ...
- Design is not intuitive
I can't "guess" where something will be by knowing where something else was and looking at the map, with the exception of the two inns and the banks
- Few guards
- No Auction house
- No class trainers
- Poorly located inns
- Poorly located Flight Master

- A single anvil / forge located as inconveniently as humanly possible
- No blacksmith hammer sales dude

- Confusing design with an elevator from Aldor Rise to Scryer's Tier (where they will be hostile)
- No "dueling location"

Yes this is an actual criticism, the dueling area outside the front of IF is fun
- No single battlemaster location
- Too few mailboxes

You can NEVER have too many mail boxes

IF was practically the perfect design with the exception of the useless hole in the ground and anvil located too far away from the AH / Bank / Inn ... If you are going to forcibly replace it then please top it, this design is worse than the original alpha version of IF and if I remember correctly that was replaced because the multi-levelled design annoyed people.

PS - I had to port to IF just to buy a damn blacksmiths hammer earlier ... wth bliz?

What I noticed too was while in the inn my level in my icon in the top left corner didn't turn to "zzz". I'm assuming that means I don't get rested experience while there either. My hearth is set there but I keep flying to other places to stay in their inns.

Some realms are currently experiencing an issue in Shattrath where they are not getting rested experience. This is clearly not intentional. We are working to address this as soon as possible.

Class trainers and Auction Houses were purposefully left in the old world so that people would continue to interact with those parts of the world. It also helps to disperse the population a bit. Imagine IF we had all the class trainers and an AH in Shattrath. The population would be overwhelming. It also makes it possible for those that do not have the expansion to be able to take part in some small way with the rest of the population and interact with them. They can buy new items from Outland on the AH or from other players and interact with other players that have the expansion.

The city layout has a lot to do with the lore of the region. The lower part of the city has the refugees and some of the seedier residents ot Shattrath. The middle area is the hub with the flight path and portals to all of the major cities in Azeroth. The upper portions hold the Aldor and Scryers who you can choose to align with. Like any new city, it's fairly simple to learn what areas have what but will take some people a bit of time to get acclimated with.

For me, I like the city.

There is no content in the old world for people in Shattrath... Creating down time is bad, Mkay?

Karazhan and the Caverns of Time are accessible by going to Azeroth proper. As far as downtime, that seems a bit odd to say since people in Azeroth still need to travel to particular city for an AH and trainers as it is. I haven't seen the time to travel to train or use an AH increase on my end. If anything, it seems quicker via portal and hearthing back to where I want to be.
