Why the secrecy about Season 4?

I am fully aware that many people have asked when Season 4 is starting and Blue has responded that they'll let us know 2 weeks in advance.

But my question is why? They can't be so short-sighted to not have a date they're shooting for at this point. And if they do have a certain date in mind, what is the harm in telling people "it won't be for several more months." If something happens and they have to push it back, nothing changes because they never gave a specific date (though really, what could happen that would push back the start of S4?).

So again, why the need for such secrecy? Where is the harm in giving a general time-frame - whether it be weeks or months - of when S4 will start? "Soon" or "Not soon" doesn't really tell anyone anything. And maybe that's what they're aiming for ... but I don't understand why it's necessary.

I appreciate the posts and generally speaking find the off-topic posts to be quite amusing.

But if you cannot give a general time-frame to the tune of "several months" or "several weeks", can you at least explain why you are unable to do so?

Is the time-frame not set yet? Also, if it is set what are some things that could delay the start?

We don't provide release dates far in advance, this should come as no surprise really. We also feel that providing a 2 week warning is sufficient time for players to prepare for the end of the current season and the beginning of a new one.

But the general consensus on the boards is that the season will start on a Tuesday. This means every Tuesday we come and look for an announcement. If we don't get one... we go away (well, most of us) and look for it the following week.

In the absence of an annoucement today... should we think we have at least 3 weeks prior to Season 4?

Solid logic, I don't see any flaws at the moment. :)
