We are aware there are currently some kind of Internet issues preventing some of our players from connecting to certain realms - and possibly our main website.

We are looking into this at the moment and will get back with information as soon as we can.

Please feel free to post in this thread.

We do appreciate your patience.

I am sorry, I've tried that excuse once at a previous work "Well the servers are up,so there is no problem, its just that the customers can't get to them".... tried that 18 years ago, got me fired very quickly.

IF the CUSTOMER cannot access the servers, then they are *NOT* "up", period. The ONLY thing that matters is what the customer experiences, NOTHING else.

I am very sorry there are issues, the intent of my post was to assure folks the servers were up and running, not crashed as some have surmised.

The issue is getting TO them. I never said there wasn't a problem.

We are waiting to hear the nature of this - I suspect it's outside of us from the traceroutes players have already provided.

If we get any more information - we'll do our best to keep you updated.

Still waiting on official word folks.

If repairing your connection works - that's wonderful - can't hurt to try it.

Many have reported this appears to be a router down - if you can get rerouted around the blockage that way - that may well work for you.

Still waiting to hear from our tech guys what's what.

So how's that "Internet Issue" going Blizz?

- Guess its kinda like our ZA run, not at all...
<--- WTB back 2 months of wasted time for unstable Oceanic Servers....

Still waiting on official word Lowflyer - but if you'll look right above - maybe try some of the techniques talked about - might work.

Trust me, *I* am not tech savvy - ya'll don't want to take that kind of advice from me - you're PCs will end up making pop-tarts. I am currently waiting on the folks that actually know what is going on to give me some kind of information to pass on.

The issues you are experiencing this morning appear to be completely unrelated to the realms, but rather the path between you and the realms.

Let's say you left your house to go to the grocery store, everything appears to be going smoothly until all of a sudden you come across construction blocking your path to the store leaving you stuck without directions to the store. Unfortunately, there are not always detour signs posted to help guide you along another route. I believe this is very similar to what each of you are experiencing, only you can't see the instruction and your connection is telling you the path is invalid.

Some players have had huge successes by flushing their DNS. In essence, this could create a new, alternate path that may not be effected by the construction a few blocks away from the grocery store. Regrettably, this will not guarantee success, but it's certainly worth a shot in the meantime.

To read more about how to flush your DNS and other troubleshooting steps that may remedy your connection woes, please review the following support article:

http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=21226

In the meantime, we'll keep you up to date with any information we're provided. Our realm technicians are aware of the issue and are in communication with various parties to get you back in game as quickly as possible.

Thank you all for your patience.

Thank you. How is the fact that I am able to connect to Area 52 but not Silver Hand my ISPs problem? Why does Blizzard always blame someone else?

If there is a router out somewhere (and we are still waiting official word on that - but it's looking likely) rerouting can sometimes get you around a blockage - depending on where you are located.

The internet was designed for exactly this sort of thing - the beast is supposed to be able to survive nuclear war - but it can take some prodding - and if there is no way around a blockage of that nature the harder (or more impossible) it may be.

I see. So say this router is down, How often does it usually take to bring one of these back up? more than an hour? Just your personal guess btw.

I wish I knew friend - that's what we are hoping to hear back from the techs.

I'm terribly sorry, Lijoon. You must have misunderstood what I was saying.

This has nothing as much to do with your ISP as it does with our realms. The Internet is a complicated place, so let me try to expand upon the real world analogy for you.

Simply put, your ISP is the road which leads from your neighborhood to a major highway. Thankfully, there's nothing to prevent you from leaving the neighborhood and you're able to head out to the grocery store without issue.

Once you get to the major highway you can go to North or South. North leads to Silver Hand Grocers, and South leads to Area 52 Market. Unfortunately, construction along the way is restricting your access to Silver Hand Grocers, but it's smooth sailing to Area 52 Market because the construction is to the north of you.

If only we knew how long those construction workers take ;)

I know, right? :)

The quicker the better!

i am having troubles with high latency in game, wondering when this problem will be fixed-sure is driving me crazy not being able to play for something i pay for

If you are experiencing high latency on an ongoing basis - it's probably not related to this thread Fnlsandman. This was an incident a few mornings ago when a router went out.

We actually have quite a few articles regarding latency in our knowledge base.

http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=21018&searchQuery=latency&pageNumber=1

That one may be of help - or type latency in at the top of that page in the search area and you may see some more specific to what you are experiencing.

We also have a tech support forum - as well as a tech support phone line if none of these other remedies seem to help.

Good luck.

If you look back in this thread just a little bit - you'll see some folks talking about how to flush your DNS.

I know nadda about such things - but it seemed to help a great many. Might be worth trying.

You might also want to post over in our tech forum. Lots of tech savvy folks hang out here - but really not the place to get official technical assistance.

I don't believe the specific issue this thread started over is what is still happening Katnook.

Your issue may be very similar - but this particular outage was rectified that morning.

You probably want to head over to our tech forum for a bit more net savvy help.

If it's a case of bad routing - or something going on with the net between us - that we have little control over I'm afraid - but there may be a way around it for you.

Good luck
