Typing special characters

How do I type special characters, such as the umlaut or ash ligature, in WoW? I'm having trouble targeting other characters (for group invitations, whispers, targeting flag carriers in WSG) or guilds (so that I may 'who guild') that have these characters in their names. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Those are most commonly referred to as HIGH ASCII characters Quenya.

And the use of them in a player name does make it extraordinarily hard for others to communicate.

I don't have a table - but they are created by holding down the alt key and typing a specific number in on the keypad.

Hope that helps a bit.
