Oh man, I love movies.

I especially love the first night crowds for 'blockbusters'. I love the fellow geeks lined up waiting for hours to get in, I love the energy of an expectant crowd, the cheer that rises up as the movie starts.

Yay =).

You just like stalking and picking off the weak ones that get left behind as the crowd filters into the theater.

I assigned my 13 year old to read Dune by Frank Herbet and my 9 year old to read Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. So, what do you guys think, is that over the top? I am violating ToS? Is it a dumb thing to do? Are you gonna do it to your kids too now? What?

For making your kids read amazing novels? They're your kids. It's not like you're selling them the gold or anything. I can see where it can be a bit of a grey area, but it's not like you're getting anything "real world" out of it, other than their education and intellectual advancement. I think it's a great thing, as it will make them want to do it. =)

"Education and admonition commence in the first years of childhood, and last to the very end of life." - Plato.

Gotta start somewhere. ;)

=)

I love reading. I go through anywhere between 4 and 6 books a month. I need a bigger bookcase...

That's actually a very cool idea, Alan. I bet your younger youngling would really like a lot of the Jack London books too. I know I adored them when I was a kid.

My parents couldn't get me to stop reading when I was a kid. I hated 'kid books' though, which is also why I love the proliferation of really good Young Adult authors that are out there now.

I woulda been very enthusiastic about a lot of them. If you haven't already, you might want to check em out and see if there's anything that appeals.

I hate it, pretty much. They took off more in front than I was expecting and I don't like my tail. Thankfully my hindquarters are still fantastic.
