Invalid Credit Card Number (Bank of America)

Blizzard,

I'd like to bring to your attention, which you may or may not already now, an issue that will have a significant impact on your customer base. I created a trial account and attempted to upgrade to the full subscription account. After multiple failed attempts at upgrading the account and receiving the message "Invalid Credit Card Number", I decided to Call Blizzard Billing Customer Service. They informed me that the decision is coming from my financial institution and to inquire with them. So I did.

My financial instution, Bank of America, informed me they no longer honor transactions originated from BLizzard due to the fact that they have been flagged as a fradulent and/or online gambling organization.

Now I'm completely dead in the water. My Check Card and Credit Card are both issued by Bank of America. What am I to do?

Clearly, the larger issue is "clearing your name" so to speak with Bank of America. Bank of America is one of, if not, the biggest bank in the United States.

HELP!

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that you've been experiencing some issues. As others have mentioned, this may be an issue which is restricted to a local branch of your financial institution. Regardless, you should be in a position to request that they remove the block on payment in this case =).

Alternatively, if you like, you can purchase a retail box copy of World of Warcraft, as your credit card isn't needed to perform the upgrade to full retail in that case.

Still, it might be best to see if you can't clear this up to avoid potential payment issues in the future.

We understand that some players have been experiencing potential issues with certain forms of payment. You can all rest assured that we are actively investigating situations of this nature, and that they are receiving abundant time and attention.

For better or worse, we are unable to dictate how another establishment or financial institution opts to conduct their transactions with their customers. In an effort to allay some concerns in this vein, I would like to confirm that we are successfully processing transactions with Bank of America clients on a daily basis. Still, we intimately understand exactly how very important these transactions are to our customers, and we are both working closely with these institutions and laboring intently to streamline compatibility between our systems and theirs.

As always, security, confidentiality and a fantastic overall experience for all of our customers are foremost on our mind. You can be certain that we will do everything we can to handle each transaction properly, securely, and as swiftly as possible.

If for some reason you seem to be experiencing an issue with your transaction, please feel free to contact our Billing Department, and we will do our utmost to assist you.

like you just did? should i create a new thread instead? get lost.

Silversky posted in the thread you had already bumped, Hingru. Technically speaking you resurrected the thread, not her.

Regardless, creating a new thread or posting in an old one will not produce additional information. Your issue could be that your bank is now refusing the transaction or it could be one of our security measures is not allowing the online purchase.

You can try an alternate card, if you have one available. You may need to contact our Billing Department directly to see if they can provide assistance or you can save some time and purchase a copy of the game from a retail store.

You can call 1 (800) 592 5499 (1-800-59-BLIZZARD) Monday through Friday 8AM-8PM (PDT) for live representation.
Australian users should please call 1-800-041-378 if the standard 800 line does not work.
