Wow, that's a pretty hefty ping. Honestly there's only so much we can do to try to ensure the game has some 'give' when it comes to lag. The game does require a broadband connection, and so you're technically playing outside of what we state you should have to be able to play. Obviously you can play in many under-system-requirement circumstances, as you clearly have been able to for much of the game, but when we develop and test thing it's just not going to take into account things like 1700ms latency.
