Ok c'mon Blizzard, honestly

Malygos has been the aspect of magic for ages. He's had almost his entire flight wiped out by magic. And now when he's come up with a plan to balance the magic the mortal races use it's "reckless" and he needs to be confronted (a blizzard term for KILLED) I've always enjoyed reading about the dragonflights and each member. And you'd think after all the crap he's been through, the developers would come with a better idea then "o he's doing something dangerous and reckless, kill im!" Sound familar? Who's next, Ysera? why not just wipe out the entire aspect line while you're at it. I really want to know why the developers can't come up with a better idea for this. Why not have Malygos and other heroes go up against the Lich King? Much more entertaining.

I, Shinma of the Proudmoore server, pledge my loyalty to Malygos and his flight. The balance will be restored. The misuse of magic by the mortal races has gone on too long!

You are free to avoid fighting Malygos and his flight if you wish to role play it that way and you will definitely be working toward fighting the Lich King, so it sounds like this is covered.

Well of course I can avoid him. But that won't change the story. IF players do fight and kill him in the game, he'll be dead in the story no matter what happens. Unless the developers do something about that story-wise later.

Some stories change, some end, some new ones begin, we'll have to wait and see how everything turns out.

That's up to you and how you are role playing your character, but yes, there will be more creatures to fight than just Malygos in Northrend.
