Q u o t e:
I understand that you are only repeating a script, but a $billion company should be able to work out all the kinks in the beta stage before making their software public. I've only been playing ~4-5 months, and the server has crashed ~10 times... I worked for one of the largest TV groups in the country, and if our NOC when down as many times as the ruin group has, heads would be rolling until the problem was fixed...
What script? I don't have a list of things that I can or can not say. Money does not solve all woes, and no amount of testing can predict every eventuality.
If I understand correctly, your TV group is responsible for sending out a signal. Our Game requires us to maintain 200+ realms with all the moving parts that come with it and handle millions of players connecting to and interaction with our systems, data in staggering amounts is continually updated, stored and disseminated. Not to mention that the game continues to evolve in order to provide players with an ever changing experience.
There are times when parts simply fail, it can be a catastrophic failure where we instantly know the cause and can replace the hardware. It can be a tiny hiccup, one that you can get on your standard PC, one that you would fix by simply restarting the computer. The issue can be with a specific line of code, usually causing an issue on all realms or the issue can be with the way a specific line of code interacts with a part that may not be showing signs a problem and thus we have to figure out what the issue is, why it is doing it and how to resolve it.
The issue can be with the route that some players take to connect to one realm, or an issue with the connection that we use for a specific set of realms.
No one knows our systems but us, well not all of us I have no clue on how it all works I just have picked up bits and pieces in the time I've been here. Your real world experience can not possibly compare unless you have run a MMO even then it may not be the same; different engines, different methods, etc... Online game and phone company/internet hosting/tv group, etc... are completely different critters.
