When did you start playing wow?

I remember when I was first convinced by my father in law to play it. He started in 11/04. I played a bit on his warrior he'd made and I liked it, so I picked up a copy for myself in early 05.

Sadly, I got bored and quit just prior to the first expansion and lost that account info forever. Had to re-buy wow a year later or so and start over.

So technically I've been playing since early vanilla, but my oldest current account is from probably TBC. I say probably cause since then 3 of my boys have started playing with me and slowly I moved them off of dads account to their own; we're up to 4 accounts now.

When did you start playing?

Edit: I remember being wow'ed by the lack of zoning (I'd come from FFXI; the only other MMO I'd ever played - every new zone required a loading screen). I couldn't fathom how you could to from Durotar to Barrens without loading.

Another thing that really got me? Instances. I wasn't used to not having to share areas with folks (dungeons etc). That concept was hard for me to wrap my head around.

And mounts you could summon /on demand!/ They weren't timed (chocobos) and could be used whenever you wanted!

Early beta before the original release. It made a real impact on me from the moment I logged in. I wasn't working for Blizzard as of yet, but it convinced me that the game was going to be pretty special.

The game was special, for many years. Those days are over though.

I disagree with this sentiment personally. I think it's only gotten better with time and the next chapter is going to be a great addition.
