Having 2 blow item restore evry Azgalor kill?

(apologies for the contraction in the subject title - WTB moar characters, PST!)

CMs, I'm a little concerned about something.
I'm posting this on behalf of my wife, character named Katathia. She's our Feral OT (and a damned fine one, if I may say so).

With the exception of this week, where our warrior MT was not on and she stepped up and MT'd Azgalor, she's been unable to loot her Badges of Justice on Azgalor kills.

As is common, she stands herself way toward the Tauren Warriors to allow them to assist in DPSing the Doomguards that spawn. Hence, she never touches Azgalor. Every time, she fails to appear on the loot table, and is ineligible for either loot or badges.

The T6 gloves we wanted to give her required me to open a ticket and wait the requisite 6 days or so for a Specialist to remove the token from my bags and send it to her.

C'est la vie, understandable.

So she's started opening tickets for the Badges she's been unable to claim. According to her, she got the usual spiel "blah blah item restoration blah blah limited number" - you know, the usual canned reply.

CMs - do we really want our OTs (we use 2 over by the warriors) to get shafted out of badges every week? Sure, it's only a couple badges, but they're still earned.

And yes, I realize that if the 2 OTs got within range at the start of the boss fight, tossed a couple of attacks their way, then ran to their designated Doomguard tanking spot, this would probably solve the issue, but does Blizzard expect guilds to jerry-rig getting setup for a boss just because the way loot tables are set up don't take the mechanics of this fight into account?

I'd like to see her badges mailed to her and any "restores" in relation to this removed from her account. It only seems fair.

In the future: should I as loot master just open a ticket and petition for all the members that are unable to loot their badges?

Then when they say, no, they say no. If that's what needs to happen, then all it does is gum up the ticket process by people who may not know better and slow things down for everyone. Surely there is a better solution, and perhaps the suggestion forum is the place for that, but the suggestion forum can not solve something that's already happened in game, where the action of a GM/CM was required.

Unfortunately, these repeated petitions can and do slow the process. They can also result in an inability to provide further restoration - so the advice provided within this thread is not without merit. I understand that you may feel that the mechanics of this fight are not perfect, though, so a Suggestions forum post is entirely appropriate.

However, it is possible for your 'melee team' to start the engagement in a position where they will enter combat with Azgalor as the fight begins and should receive loot appropriately. Alternatively, to be absolutely certain, they can even toss out an initial attack in the very first moments of the fight before getting into position, to help ensure that this is the case.

In any situation where you may have raiders that are extremely far away from a fight as it occurs, though, there can be looting issues. These are intended mechanics, and taking some relatively simple steps to ensure that all your raiders are able to acquire the loot that they've earned does not seem entirely unreasonable.

Perhaps you can inquire with other guilds, to see how they ensure that there are no issues?

Thanks Malkorix., appreciate the reply, and I'll forward the information onward.

I know you've been pretty frustrated by this situation, Monistatus, and I genuinely appreciate your understanding.

I just don't think it's fair that people who work hard, do what's asked of them in a raid in order to be successful end up getting "shafted" (even if it is only a couple badges).

It is frustrating, when you attempt to champion a cause for others, and people don't understand the position you're placed in as a guild officer.

Thanks again for your time. Feel free to lock this.

I'll typically only lock a thread under particular circumstances, such as when one gets 'out of control'. While not exactly friendly, this thread hasn't reached that point yet. I do think we've reached a valid conclusion, so I'm hopeful that it will die down from here.

It really is a good idea, if you haven't already, to contact some other guilds to find out what they've done to circumvent this potential issue. There are sure to be strategically viable options.

I'm also glad that we were able to help your raiders with this situation in the past as well, and that (while regrettable) the only loss was one of convenience.
