Evening, folks! We've gotten a number of reports that players appear to be "missing" Honor, and would like to assure you that this is nothing more than a matter of improper display -- no data has been lost in actuality. There are currently a number of issues that are affecting the display of estimated Honor, most of which shall be covered in the paragraphs below, and that we are working to resolve on a more permanent basis.

6554: The Magical Number
There is currently an issue that causes estimated Honor to "reset" to 0 once 6554 Honor Points have been accrued; this will occur at any time that one's Honor rises above that number. However, this only affects the display of Honor, and not the actual tabulations that occur each morning.

Diminishing Returns on Honor
The estimated Honor total does not take diminishing returns into consideration, which shall almost always result in some "loss" of Honor when the calculations occur; to clarify, you only receive the full amount of Honor for killing a given player for the first time, and each time after that the amount of Honor actually received is reduced by 10% until it reaches 0 after the tenth kill of the same person. (As an example, if you receive 10 Honor for killing a player for the first time, you'll receive 9 the second, 8 the third, etc.) However, the estimated Honor total will not include these reductions, which means that you will appear to receive full credit for killing the same player multiple times, even though that is not the case.

Being Online during Calculations
If your character is online during Honor calculations -- which occur very early in the morning, Pacific time -- there are a couple different issues that can arise. The first is that if you're actively engaged in PvP when the tabulations are run, any Honor accrued during the period during which Honor is calculated for the day shall not appear until the next day's calculations, under the total for "Yesterday," but is not lost by any means.

The second potential issue is that the Honor totals shall remain into the next day, rather than being cleared during the calculations, which can cause some confusion, as the next day's estimated Honor will appear to be artificially inflated. Please note, however, that the correct amount of Honor shall be tabulated accordingly during the next day's calculations, and that none of the Honor that was carried over will be applied.

(Note: If you happen to be online during calculations for multiple days, these issues may recur until the next Honor tabulations for which the affected character is offline. This "rollover" effect may give the impression that Honor has been lost, when in fact it is merely a bit "late.")

Other Discrepancies
It may happen, due to another issue of which we're aware, that one's estimated Honor total shall appear with ellipses ("...") rather than an actual number; upon occasion, even if a number is displayed, it may not be properly updated in real time. In either case, it may be possible to resolve this particular display issue by logging out of the game, then back in again, or typing /console reloadui in one's chat window. Bear in mind that the other issues listed above shan't likely be affected by this workaround, so don't panic if your estimated Honor total still doesn't appear correct.

We are confident that, as of now, no data has been lost in actuality, and that players should receive all the Honor they have earned; however, we shall continue to monitor the situation to ensure that nothing is amiss. We appreciate your patience while we work to address these issues. :)

Ok...I know the honor total is an est......but when you are showing 14.5k in honor for the day and only recieve 6k of it that is complete BS. Just to add insult to injury they only gave me 980 HK's for the day when I was well over 1200.....wth is up with that.

Is it possible you've experienced one, or perhaps even several, of the issues described in detail above? Wait a day or two, and see. :)

If that was the case should I not be showing honor right off the bat for today? I was not PvPing at the time of the rollover. I was logged in though. Right now I am showing 0 HK's and 0 honor. Not sure how that fits the above profiles.

It sounds like one of the display issues that can occur if you're online when the calculations run; like I said, check your Honor tomorrow. :)

Q u o t e:
I am curious if it is known at precisely what time these calculations are run. I would like to make an effort to *not* be online during the roll-over period but I am unaware of exactly when they happen. Asking players gave me answers of (all EST, my local and server time) 2am, 2:30am, 3am, 4am, and any number of in betweens.

While the exact time fluctuates somewhat, I can safely say the calculations occur very early morning, Pacific time. :)

Q u o t e:
Also, does just the character in question need to be logged out or should the entire account be offline for it to tabulate and display correctly? For example, can I safely play an alt during calculations or should I exit out of WoW completely so that my account is inactive at calculation time?

Only the characters with whom you have recently participated in PvP need to be offline during the calculations, not the entire account. :)

Q u o t e:
Lastly, concerning diminenshing returns, are the 10% reductions specific to each pvp instance or to a 24 hour period? For example if I kill Sarabeth 5 times in an AV match I understand that I will receive, for example, 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6 honor for those kills. Should I run across Sarabeth an hour later in WSG on the same day will my first kill be 5 or start at 10 again?

The diminishing returns affect all Honorable Kills within a given day, so your next kill after the break would be "5" in this case. :)

Thanks for helping to shed some light on the system =)

I hope this has proven illustrative, Scrimshaw. Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

The best Blizzard has done is refer me to pages and posts that don't answer the disappearing honor issue.

We still have found no evidence that suggests that honor is actually "disappearing." This is why this sticky thread was created. Our Database Administrators and Quality Assurance teams continue to monitor honor calculations to ensure they are run correctly. If there are any widespread calculations issues, we will be sure to provide you all with additional updates. : )
