The Definition of Crowd Control

Wowwiki: Crowd Control refers to spells and abilities which limit an opponent's ability to fight, and is abbreviated CC. CC abilities are used to reduce the number of mobs that the group fight at once.
Types of CC include Charm, Daze, Fear, Root, Sleep, Slow, Snare, and Stun.

Seems preaty strait forward to me, yet ive been having a 10 page argument with someone on my realm forum that refuses to believe that any type of Snare/Root is a CC. The premise behind his illogic seems to be that he wants to whine that shaman have no CC, thus will ignore anything I or others say to convince him otherwise, including stating that Wowwiki is just a collection of retards, as is anyone that disagrees with him. He does agree that stun's are CC, however.

What im hoping here is that someone can direct me to an official post on the subject, specifically calling any type of slowing effect crowd control - I've been able to find only one specific reffrence to crowd control on the wow.com main page, but its very basic and doesnt include a good amount of information, nor does it specifically say "yes slows/snares are CC" or "No, slows/snares arnt CC", which will leave room for more debate and perpetuate what seems to be an endless argument.

To be clear, under his definition, the following are NOT crowd control: Frost Nova, Frostbite, Frost Trap (with or without entrapment), wing clip, conc shot, Entangling Roots, Hamstring (and Imp. Hamstring), Judgement of Justice (rank 2), Frostshock, Earthbind Totem, Frostbrand Weapon, Icey Weapon, Crippling Poision, and anything else that doesnt compleatly remove control of your character.

Most designers or developers would say that snares and/or slows are Crowd Control effects. The ones designing this game particularly would refer to slowing effects as crowd control.

Your friend seems to be playing the negationist. By semantically arguing that crowd control has only a few 'real' spells in it, they can then claim they have no CC. This is not the case, simply that a particular class doesn't have as much focus in CC, or abilities for CC, by comparison.
