Jubei'Thos

Blizzard Post
Hello there,

I was wondering if you could tell me when the server Jubei'Thos is going to revert to normal operations? Ever since patch 2.4 went live Jubei has been going off and on, and we're having real trouble raiding. Almost every night without fail the server lags out, crashes, goes offline for like 30 seconds befotre it goes live. We seem to have the bad luck of it happening during boss fights, and we keep getting wiped. It's happened half way through Lady Vashj and just then it happened half way through Rage Winterchill.

I'd just like to know if it's a technical problem and if so if it's going to be repaired soon, because to be honest we're reaching the point where we're starting to consider whether it's worth playing until the server is fixed.

Many thanks in advance,

-Airraid

Hi there, Airraid.

Unfortunately this issue does not appear to be isolated to Jubei'Thos, but rather several realms. Our realm technicians are currently monitoring the latency and connectivity issues and are looking to address this issue as quickly as possible.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, my friend.

I hope a speedy resolution is on the horizon!

BUMPITYBUMP

If you're going to "bump" a thread, please do so with actual, relative information—or, at the very least, a civilly-stated opinion. I've no qualms leaving this thread open; however, when posts such as the one I've quoted are consistently and effortlessly made, they hinder our ability to gather information quickly. These posts also serve to undermine those from Jubei'Thos (and Bloodlust as a whole) who have remained patient, informative, and polite through its entirety.

You're welcome to be angry. You're welcome to vent that anger. Just don't waste the time of your realm mates by adding nothing to the conversation.
#281 - April 9, 2008, 2:53 p.m.
Blizzard Post
I respectfully disagree. Simply adding "BUMPITY BUMP" does nothing beyond making the contributor appear impatient—which may very well be the case. It adds no information and no context; the post might as well not exist for all the relevance it possesses. There is difference between saying, "Yes, I am experiencing the same issues," and "Bump for great justice!"—please, just take a brief minute and consider this fact. You may not agree, but at least give the thought some mind.

All that I'm asking is that you take a moment to articulate your situation and not simply regurgitate a forum meme. It's a sign of respect for all those actually posting within and it helps we forum posters keep better track of the thread's actual progression. :)

Q u o t e:
So what is this doing for the threads progression?

Oh, come now, what's a little debate between friends?

In all seriousness, though, I'm trying to keep this thread civil. That you chose to dispute the first request was unfortunate, as, yes, it led to further deviation. The matter is worth clarifying, though—so I clarified. If you truly wish to cease this particular line of discussion then, please, just try to keep the "bumps" in check. It's really, really not that hard. :)

As for a tangible update, here you go:

Yar. Though it's one that I also noted may not have been visible totally from a player perspective. We totally realize that and thus are continuing to monitor and relay as much information as we can back and forth. :)

The update was provided in respect to a promise I made previously. And, while it's not a shining beacon of resolution, is it a step in the right direction—a direction down which we hope to continue.

I've absolutely no idea, Elitemufti, since such compensation is not handled by the Game Master department. Should anything of the sort become available, though, it'll definitely be announced within General or simply show up within your payment.

Q u o t e:
You might think this change has made a difference to the CPU or Memory usage when you run a TOP on the Oceanic Servers arounf this time but I can unfortuantely tell you that the change has made no difference at all to the player issues during these times.

Secondly you should probably go look through the Crontab file and see what else is running around this time maybe same bright spark has a poorly written script that is chewing up CPU and Memory (While 1 {Fork{Malloc()}) tends to do this well.

The latency is most definately server side but it has to do with client instructions being parsed by the server for example last night Latency to the server sat around 200 - 300ms for me but my casting and looting still took between 5 - 15 seconds to complete sometimes even longer. This tells me very quickly the server is not receiving the client instructions at all. Secondly players getting warped back after moving around the world also is a good indicator this is a problem with the servers.

I would be going through all process and scripts with a fine tooth comb and working out which ones are causing this issue because trust me they are still there and running right on Queue.

I'm not a tech, so unforunately I'm unable to provide any feedback on your observations. That said, I'll make sure your points are heard by those who can influence such things directly.

Thank you for thoughts. Truly. :)

What you deem helpful is greatly different than what your peers deem the same, Modaran. I promised that I would update with any new information and so I have. That you believe it useless is your opinion, one to which you are most certainly entitled. I thank you for your feedback, but should I have any insight to spare, regardless of how miniscule it may be, I'm going to continue to voice it. You and your peers to deserve to know.

Will this conversation remedy the latency issues for you? If that's what you mean by help, then no, my post was not helpful; it was, however, informative. And, sometimes, people just want to know what's going on. I'm trying to give Oceania that and I'm actually very sorry that you disagree.

That said, you'll have to pardon me; I intend to keep updating as new developments arise. Yes, even small ones.

Really? Aw, come on, Modaran, work with me.

Q u o t e:
We modified a particular process that was running in the early AM hours and noticed an immediate change.

Q u o t e:
Aye. There actually was—from a technical standpoint. As stated in my primary update, the difference may have been negligible or hard to notice from the player-end, but we definitely saw an improvement internally. That situations have not turned 180 completely is why we're still putting the nose to the grind.

Jargon aside: We changed something. We noticed a good change internally. We aren't yet satisfied with results, though, so we're still working.

Regrettably, however, this sort of information has yet to have been provided.

While I understand your desire to speak with a more technical member of our staff, I'm afraid that they would not be able to offer you any further information that they have not already provided us. Oh I read it, and its just as hollow as the usual excuses. You need to understand the playerbase is experiencing multiple issues. There are both latency issues (typically later during the peak aussie time AND also random disconnects and issues where the server goes down completely)

I dont expect you to fully understand the situation as you havent been present on our server over the past month but I do expect you not to try and force feed us absolute rubbish about it being our ISP's causing your server to crash and kick us all off. Whilst its nice that you appear to be making an effort those with any clue will quickly dismiss it as an attempt to keep us quiet while the idiots in the realm tech area run about trying to find the solution in between doughnuts and bud lights.

I May be able to understand an ISP related issue (in regard to the latency issues) except everyone on Jubei regardless of ISP or location suffers the same issues at the same times whether it be latency or disconnections / errors retrieving character lists.

What would I know, im just another sucker in a long line bent over in front of your company.

I don't see anywhere where I've said there's not a server issue.

We've recently implemented some changes to certain processes on your realms to resolve your continued connectivity issues and we're testing it on a single realm to see its effectiveness. Should it work well for that realm, we'll extend that process change to all affected realms.

And please don't presume that I don't know what you guys are going through. I play on an Oceanic server.

Indeed. I was happy to see that there were few issues yesterday, Tresjynn. As Syndri has mentioned, our DBAs are testing a few resolutions and are hoping to find a solution as quickly as possible. It appears that the most recent tests may have shown some sign of success.

We have been in contact with the DBAs this evening regarding the success yesterday as well as the current realm issues. I am hoping that by comparing the two days they can develop a more robust resolution.

Rest assured that we do not consider this matter closed, my friends. Unfortunately, a solution has yet to present itself.
