I asked the composer, Derek Duke, and this is what he had to say in regard to the instruments used.

"There were three featured wind instruments used, the bansuri-a bamboo flute, bass clarinet, and brass penny whistle. They were all quite heavily treated/processed and re-sampled."

Are you saying you had the same curiosity as the OP and asked in the past, or was the composer like still hanging around Blizzard offices doing paper work and Janitorial services in between his musical career?
Is it possible you phoned his cell phone to ask the OP's question?

It's amazing what email can do, even when he's incredibly busy working on other projects in the same building. ;) Our sound department consists of some very busy and talented people.

Neth, or Bornaak, or anyone over at Blizz, might we have a nibble of info regarding who's on music duty for WotLK?

Nibbles will be coming in all due time. ;) Our Director of Audio and Video, Russell Brower has been hard at work already as has Derek Duke and the rest of our Sound Department. More I couldn't tell you, but from what I know and have sampled, I believe people will be very pleased.

There is a lot of new music in the game that cannot be found on the official soundtrack CDs (such as the music in the inns, holiday music, new areas, etc). Is there a plan to make these new tracks available to download/purchase?

Not at this point in time, but should that change, we'll definitely get the word out. It's a common question though. We do have a CD with the new Inn music on it that was sold at BlizzCon, but it's not currently available anywhere else.
