So when the Arena hits...

And we can get Arena points...

How long will it take before Blizz decides that too many people are earning too fast and smack down the % of points earned?

I was excited about the Arena, I really was, but after seeing the reaction they had when ZOMG people are earing HONOR too fast!

I wonder how fast, and how hard they will smack that system down?

3 days? 1 Week? 1 Month after all the "hard core serious gamers" get their gear?

I am betting that they ptu the brakes on after 10 days from the first group of 70's to start earning points.

First condition in an MMO is that everything is subject to change.

However, in this case, the Arena system is quite different from the Honor system because it is user-based, not point-based as the Honor System is. Being ranked against other players, you have limited space to hold a rank at any given time and the highest ranked will always be fewer in number than a lower rank.

They are completely different arrangements. Slowing down honor gain is completely different from slowing down Arena point gain, because of the competitive nature of the system. Arena point quantity and gain is directly compared between players, whereas Honor points are simply cumulative.

Will the Arena system be adjusted after it's release? Entirely possible. With a complex system, you have to expect adjustments to be made, because these things don't necessarily work 'out of the box'. They are implemented with the surrounding code and number systems and you see how it operates and make adjustements accordingly.

Tseric,

My point wasn't that the system would be adjusted or not, of course it will. MMO's are like the Climate, always in a constant state of change. The question was a direct shot at you guys over the 51% honor reduction, less then a week passed and you guys over reacted. The reaction hurt the players that most benefited, while being no more than a nuscance for those least affected.

I'm Talking about the more Causual players Vs the Hard Cores.

The Arena looks like a neat idea... but after what's happened with the BG's, I won't step foot in them, I will however, take bets on how long it takes you guys to make a drastic change that merely annyos the players you most want to target, and kills most of the rest.

Well, don't get me wrong, the Arena system is a competitive system. With the whole of the honor changes, we basically seperated one system into two. One for incremental gain and rewards. The other for competitive, ranked play. The Arena system is not 'casual-oriented'.

Even, when we implement the gear-matching system (still under development), it's still going to be a highly competitive system. Because of that, few are going to get the best rewards or ranks. It is better to regard it as an arena for competition, not for guaranteed reward for time invested.

So basically, unless you have the time, and all ready are well geared, don't bother?

No problem, no problem at all, I won't ever step in.

You could play skirmishes, that are not ranked and do not require an Arena charter. Would that not be your cup of tea simply because you aren't gaining an item reward from it?

Players of varied skill will be able to gain some rewards, but if you have your eyes set on the highest-end rewards, you will have to fight everyone else for them.
