Can my toon name contain accented letters?

I am talking about letters such as (Ã¥Ã§Ã¨Ã©Ã«ÃÃ¯Ã°)... I have not seen anything regarding accented letters; right now, I am just looking for clarification. Other then people saying u will get baned for using them.
I know ($%@^!) type symbols are blocked; if accented letters are not allowed why are they in use?

I would love to name my toon in correct French. =D

Anyway... the restriction on accented letters has been removed; please note that you use them at your own risk. They can cause an issue when other players try to whisper, invite, or otherwise interact with your character.
