Latency? Character stuck? Post here.

In effort to consolidate reports (and, in part, to keep this forum easily accessible to all), I'd like to keep witnessed occurrences of latency and inabilities to access or manipulate specific characters herein.

One caveat: please be detailed.

If you're experiencing latency, state where. In Azeroth? In battlegrounds? While within in an instance? Also, list what elements of your game play it's affecting. Mail? Loot? Spell casting? The more precise you can be, the better. List realms and times.

If you're unable to access a character, note when you became disconnected. Can you reach the Character Selection list? Does your progress become hindered at the Loading Screen or just after you enter the world? Should you know the activity in which you were engaged just previous to these difficulties, state it. Flying between zones? Entering or exiting a battleground? If you receive error messages, repeat them here. Again, list realms and times.

We're presently investigating severe latency on battlegroups Cyclone and Bloodlust, as well as sporadic occurrences on our Oceanic realms (this would include those on Bloodlust in addition to Vek'nilash, too). Listing of realms in relation to battlegroups can be found here:

Thanks!

Realms within Bloodlust and Cyclone seem to be recovering slowly, so your character will likely be accessible shortly, Amelda. How long has this be happening for you and realm mates?

Thanks, Amelda. Please keep me updated if you run into speed bumps or hiccups. :)

Crawl—your battlegroup (Cyclone) as a whole is improving, albeit slowly; it make take a while for all normal functions to get back up to speed. If your difficulties persist for more than half an hour with no signs of improvement, let me know, as well.

Any continent specifically, Cavalier—Azeroth, Outland, Kalimdor, inside instances or battlegrounds?

Edit: I'm able to login again, but the problems seem to reoccur with the server.

Awesome news! Likely the work of our Database Administrators—upon review, they noticed quite a bit strain placed upon both Cyclone and Bloodlust and attempted to alleviate the limiting stressors. Recovery is typically a gradual process, so while other members of your realm were up and running, it took a bit longer for Outlands to repopulate naturally.

As I requested of your peers, please let me know of even the slightest hiccups. Technicians and administrators, alike, are standing by in case any new developments should arise.

Also, just to note—

We're currently keeping a close eye on Anvilmar and Darrowmere (unrelated to these ongoing latency concerns), as both appear to be losing stability via multiple continent losses. It's not been stated yet that a restart is necessary, but this may be put on the table in the near future. Just a head's up. :)

Edit: Adding Anhorhal and Anetheron to this list.

Aye. There were some definite concerns with latency yesterday affecting quite a few battlegroup battlegrounds, Francis. To my knowledge, those issues were remedied. :)

Andorhal, Anetheron, Anvilmar, and Darrowmere should now all be up and running smoothly. With this, all realms within Cyclone and Bloodlust appear to be doing well; we're still keeping our eye on the situation, however, just in case additional spikes occur.

Keep me posted and I'll do the same for you. :)

Apologies for the delay, folks. I was knee-deep—or perhaps gill-deep?—in reports and was simply trying to clarify what specifically has occurred.

We verified significant latency for all realms with battlegroup Bloodlust and have since been able to allow each realm to recover on its own—which you all should notice shortly. We're starting to address stuck characters now, plucking each of you out manually and as quickly as possible. If you're trapped, please let us know via in-game petition so we can grab you ASAP. :)

It'll take some time for each realm to completely recover, Sholuck. Natural recoveries may take around 30 minutes for all continents to get back to speed. I'm still touching base with my point of contact, so please keep me updated.

Best to report trace routes within Tech Support, Esti. I'm afraid it's all Greek to me. :)

Good to hear, Astrant. Really good, actually. Please don't hesitate to let me know if such issues crop up again. :)

Also, Esti—was it you who yesterday hypothesized a correlation between latency and March Madness? O.o

Both Cyclone and Bloodlust are under scrutiny still, folks. We believe it may be an issue linked with an ISP, though haven't yet concluded that conclusively.

If possible, can those of you experiencing continued latency please post your ISP? No trace routes are necessary.

It appears that Bloodlust realms are recovering currently. All normal functions (mail, loot, and spellcasting) should return to optimal levels shortly.

Guys, trace routes aren't necessary. Just the questions I posed in the primary post. :)

Hey guys.

It looks like we are experiencing some high latency across several realms. I have already informed the appropriate parties, and will provide you with all available information as soon as I receive it.

I appreciate your patience and understanding.
