This thread was created for people experiencing:
1.) specific character disconection issues
2.) Getting into the game but all other players are naked, unknown and everything is unresponsive to you
3.) being returned to the character selection screen after reaching a full loading bar on your way into the game

UPDATE of things that seem to have fixed the issue for many people...

Q u o t e:
1) Log out of World of Warcraft to your desktop, thereby exiting the game completely.
2) Navigate to the World of Warcraft folder, which is often found in the Program Files directory (the default path is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft).
3) Delete the WTF and Interface folders.
4) Remove the WTF and Interface folders from the Recycling Bin, permanently delete them - along with any previously installed or moved WTF and Interface folders.
5) Restart your computer.
6) Log back into the game by double-clicking WoW.exe, ensuring that you do not reinstall any addons before doing so.

The NEWER UPDATE is an issue with network cards and the repirs process is as follows:

Q u o t e:
Your problem can be fixed by opening your network connections control panel > right click on your network connection icon > choose properties > at the top of the next window click the "configure" button next to the name of your network card >
next window click on the advanced tab > find and choose the "checksum offload" setting at the top or near the top of the configurable settings > choose "disable" in the drop down menu to the right > click okay to close the window and apply the new setting

Try both of these strategies, and post your progress. Did they work for you?

I know it's been stated that you've taken steps to address the User Interface aspect of things, however if this is the actual cause of the issue no in-game solution will result in a resolution. With this in mind I'm going to ask that you take these steps exactly:

It may not even be a custom User Interface that is causing the issue, but a conflicting, outdated or corrupt display file having a negative impact. Upon logging back into the World of Warcraft after those folders have been removed will create a new and 'fresh' copy of the display files.

Let me know if the issue persists beyond that folks. ;)

Folks, you haven't been forgotten - I just unfortunately don't have a solution at the moment. I'm going through a process right now, and I'm working to get this information to the appropriate people. We'll do everything in our power, please don't panic too much - I have no intention of leaving you with no characters. ;)

To put your minds at rest at least a little you may like to know that I do see items in the inventory of these characters, as well as gold and in-game mail. I'm not sure the exact issue; however it doesn't appear to be related to display files. I really do appreciate you taking those steps regardless, it's allowed us to move forward and attack this issue from a different angle.

As soon as there is any news I assure you that it will be provided. Folks, I'm dearly sorry to say that it may take some time. There are currently connectivity issues impacting a number of players; it is being investigated and a solution pursued. There is unfortunately no point in providing a minute by minute update just to say that there is no new information. This doesn't mean we don't care, but this is no minor concern that's going to simply slip our mind.

When we know something we'll be sure to share. ;)

Good morning Ayrwode. ;)

Would you give your character another go for me?

Ayrwode,

I simply wanted a status update; as some investigation has been done into this issue to better determine whether it is something on our end or more technical in nature.

Can you navigate to the World of Warcraft Directory and let me know if there is a WDB folder in there?

Q u o t e:
The way it reads can change the context completely, and I thought I described this problem the same way each time.

So clearly we have the same problem now.

However, at least you were able to get passed the load screen at one point in time.

I haven't been able to access 3 of my characters since patch released.

Have you taken these steps?

Ayrwode,

I really do understand how frustrating this issue is, and I appreciate you having hung in there thus far - unfortunately the solution doesn't appear to be as easy as snapping our fingers. The next step that should be taken here is submitting an in-game petition on an alternate character detailing the specifics of the issue, and reiterating all of the steps previously taken. A Game Master via the petition system will be able to take a closer look at the situation.

Please submit an in-game petition concerning the matter, and feel free to point to this post as a reference.
