Why are patches so secret?

I don't understand why patches have to be so coveted that the mods can't tell us even a possible time frame for when something may be out.

This is probably the only game where I've consistently seen this over the last several years. It's like... they treat patches as if they were a new release of a game from Blizzard. Now that I could understand being secretive about.

But why keep 10 million people in the dark about when it'll be here?

Yes I know they have said it's not today... but my point is, they always act so evasive about when. Sure things might change and they might need another week or two or three or even a month to fix things, add things, make adjustments, etc... But at least give people a time frame for when you expect it to be finished. Is that so much to ask?

It's not about being secretive. It's about giving accurate information. Estimates are fine for some people and others don't want an estimate. They want a date they can rely on. We want to give a date people can rely on. So, rather than creating a date we may or may not be able to deliver on, we don't give one and let things work themselves out how we feel they will best work out. This way if we feel something isn't ready, we have as much time as we need without disappointing people who may have been relying on a specific date and time.

We try to give a heads-up when it comes to the start of a new Arena season and of course, we give dates when it comes to solid product releases. Other than that, we will keep doing what we're doing.
