Q u o t e:
I'm thinking it's because your name doesn't have a "real" vowel in it. I know "y" can count as a pseudo-vowel for words like why, hymn, rhythm, and myth.
For Elementus, I think the pronunciation would be more like "Drisk" a 1 syllable name. The "y" should be pronounced like the "y" in hymn. At least that's how I'm pronouncing it. Can we get a confirmation Drysc?
I personally use the one that you've outlined. It's a single syllable and rhymes with 'brisk'.
Even if one were to be spelling by pronunciation (dangerous with the English language) I'm not sure how one could assume a silent or missing vowel between the S and C. It doesn't adhere to any common practice or linguistic assumption that I'm aware of.
It's not particularly annoying, I just don't understand the error and how it seems to be so common. Possibly it only seems more common as I'm more prone to notice it, but I do see it fairly often.
