One of the new servers, Cairne....

Already has a que.

I rolled some toons there because my server, Cenarius has become overpopulated and grossly imbalanced in favor of Alliance in terms of population (which really makes it tough to do daily quests due to massive number of Alliance camping the spawn spots).

I go to log in last night and lo and behold -- the ol' WoW que game appears. Granted, it was a small que, but I'm surprised that a relatively new server has a que so quickly.

Either Blizzard is not keeping up with demand, or they are not anticipating flocks of refugees from other servers.

So, what gives, Bliz?

One of the problems that I find with the daily quests is that people have taken to camping the spawn points. Take the Skettis Prisoner daily quest for example. I'm sure many others can testify that people just camp the spawn point and use a macro to trigger the quest as soon as he spawns. I've given up on trying to get the quest because normally I find a group or 2 of Alliance camping the spot.

I have heard about the issues regarding rescuing the Skyguard Prisoner in the past and experienced them in-game to a degree. Many people tend to focus on this quest due to its relative ease to accomplish and travel to as they are already going for the Fires Over Skettis quest.

In patch 2.4 we will be introducing a lot of new Daily Quests along with increasing the amount you can do (from 10 to 25 in one day) which should help disperse the population doing specific ones. While I won't promise Escape from Skettis will be less competitive, you will have many other options of quests to go do instead.

Also, we are watching Cairne's population, but it's good to see so many people are excited about the new realm.

Just like when Nazjatar first opened the day BC came out.

it was packed full of people from all kinds of servers. Folks from Destromath, Mal'ganis, Daggerspine and 2 or 3 other servers moved there. Full to the BRIM.

Fast forward about 3 months, the server is a barren wasteland with only a couple of guilds Horde and Alliance side making any PvE progression at all, let alone trying to do 5 man groups and such.

Not a great example though as Nazjatar is a PvP realm.

They are? Ah ... so that explains it. You'll need to do more daily quests to get the same amount of gold as you get with fewer quests now, I take it?

Meh. If this is true, just one more reason for me to jump ship when something else comes along.

He was referring specifically to this patch note: "The daily quest Escape from Skettis has had its reward tuned down."

It isn't the case for all of the daily quests so players have more reasons to go try out the other ones we are adding in the patch.

What does the PvP aspect have to do with it? We're looking at the "ZOMG! A new server! Let's roll there and do everything... then leave!" approach that players have.

Players did say the realm Ghostlands, which is a new PvE realm that started with free character moves to it, was supposed to be empty within 1-2 weeks too. ;-)

wasn't ghostlands pretty desolate for a long time?

just saw yesterday it was either full or locked.

No, it was only created a few weeks ago.

Q u o t e:

Wasn't Ghostlands also offered free transfers to Cairne upon its creation? I'm fairly certain what we saw was players leaping from the overcrowded 2nd-newest realm to the newest realm just because it was new.

No. There were no transfers offered to Cairne and you are not able to transfer to it until 6 months have passed since the day it launched. As a brand new realm with no transfers players can create new characters and level up together with only fast levelers being at 70.

Ah, that's right... My apologies for the incorrect information, Bornakk, though I do recall Ghostlands being offered free transfers to a lower-population realm in the recent set of them.

No worries as you are definitely right in that Ghostlands was a source realm recently for free transfers as it continued to fill up after the initial free transfers to it were closed. It is doing quite well for itself.

Hey Bornakk, question:

My new toon is on Cairne (46 BE Paladin) - when will we be able to post with our Cairne toons?

I'm not sure, just keep refreshing your browser data before you login and it shouldn't be too far off.

Q u o t e:
eh...

does this count as a first? coz if it doesn't I'll be disappointed.

Nope.

Never an issue on a PvP server. Just saying. :)

The majority of complaints I've personally seen are from players on PvP realms actually.

I second this question. Any word on whether this has been/will be fixed?

We are aware of this, but unfortunately we don't have any additional information to provide at this time.
