Free Month With Battlechest

I've already created my account (obviously) but my friend was wondering if it's possible to create an account without purchasing a game card when he recieves a free month with the battlechest. We've made attempts to set it up but it just keeps asking for a game card key and pre-paid game cards are the only payment method possible. Does the free month come now or after adding a credit to your account? If anyone could help that would be much appreciated :D

If you do not wish to use a game card, you will need to enter a credit card number. Please note, however, that this credit card will not be charged until your free month has expired. Additionally, you are welcome to remove this method of payment immediately to ensure that this card is never billed.
