WotLK Lock buff

So was browsing a site with all the 2.4 patch notes today and saw that Blizzard is thinking about giving Warlocks a spell to place a demonic circle on the ground and be able to port to it from a range of 40 yards. So... instead of nerfing the most overpowered class in game.... they're getting a huge buff on par to mages blink? And not to mention they're able to cast demons faster in the circle. So if I were to kill it's demon.. it'll just blink away cast another one and if I don't die from DoTs by the time I get to them again, I have to start the fight all over?

In the future please be sure to read, review, and point out ALL of the information in regards to topics like this. Also remember that we don't know if this will actually come out for Warlocks and we don't have information on the "buffs" (reads: new abilities) other classes will receive.

We definitely feel the need for warlocks to gain some sort of active defense so we don't have to try to balance them around the assumption that they're "tanking" melee classes. For example, an idea we're running with internally is the concept of a warlock being able to cast a spell that places a circle of demonic power on the ground. The warlock would be able to teleport to this location from within a relatively short range (ie: 40 yards), and would also be able to summon demons more quickly if they're standing within the circle.

Note: this idea is intended as a sneak peek, it's not something that we're planning for 2.4, it would be more likely as an expansion ability, and may change entirely before said time.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to work on the expansion. Details like this will be known in due time.

It's not new. That's the problem. From Kalgan's description, it seems to function similar to how Blink functioned in Beta. I don't take issue with warlocks getting new abilities, but I believe that the two classes are too similar already. We don't need warlocks turning into mages. It's already happened in PvE.

Currently they do have some interesting differences, so we'll wait and see how the scaling and new abilities go for now.

Well, Bornakk

If this is the devs desires, I just hope that they really "nerf" the "tanking" warlock's ability.

Right now, the weakness of warlocks are the melee classes. Give them so much defense against this kind of opponent would be like give to warriors the ability to become immune to movement impairing effects.

Every class have weakness and this is the reason the game demands team play. Remove their weakness would be game break.

This is absolutely something to keep in mind. There are lots of factors and changes that could effect the end result of this Warlock sneak peak while keeping in mind all of the effects of what the other classes get. I just wanted to remind people that there is a minimal amount of information available so we have a ways to go before having a discussion of class vs. class regarding their new abilities.
