WoW Should Add/Steal A Title System

It could work just like Reputation, only the points are gained through certain actions rather than quests/kills. It could be like LOTRO's title system or something closer to SWG's.

After killing a ton of dragonkin, you could get a small get a small, permanent passive skill that increases your damage against dragonkin (like 5% melee and spell damage).

Killing enough fire elementals could give you a permanent 10 fire resist.

Killing "big" raid bosses like Rag or Nefarian could give you a large chunk of the quota.

Specific classes could also gain unique titles, i.e. a warrior who has every weapon skill maxed out could get the Weapon Master title (and maybe a small +hit buff). A priest could get a Divine Grace title for healing 500 different players.

It'd add a deeper sense of development for your character, and the titles could be displayed next to your name in lieu of your rank.

Just a thought.

While the shift to the new Honor system will 'lock' a certain number of titles, it will not remove them completely.

In fact, we are already adding titles for specific events and have room to develop methods to gain other titles in the future.

Granted, most of the titles available currently are directly related to PvP and the Arena ranking system particularly, but there are other examples:
  • Achieving Exalted reputation in all Battlegrounds will confer a title.
  • The first gong ringer of the Ahn'Qiraj event will be conferred a title

For future development, we plan to develop other methods by which titles can be gained, but we also wish to keep them rare, as providing a clear path to title gain dilutes the value of the title.

Q u o t e:
Um, I think you just read the title, Tseric, and responded to that... LOOK IT OVER.

EDIT: well, you half-responded to it. My B.

Ummm...I answered it fully.

The condensed version could read "we're way ahead of you".
