Can't retrieve character list - HELP PLEASE

Alright, Argonik, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it does appear as though your characters have been deleted. The only character I am able to see on Smolderthorn is, I’m assuming the character that you just created, Varaineytu. There does, however, appear to be several characters, including this one that you are posting from, that were deleted at various times between 2/28/08 at 05:49:44(GMT) and 03/01/08 at 05:15:07(GMT).

If you would like to get these characters returned to you, Argonik , you can create an in-game petition requesting that a Game Master evaluates the situation, and restores any of the character that they are able to. Any of the characters they are able to restore will return to you exactly as they were upon deletion.

If this was not intended, as it very well seems to be the case here, I would suggest checking your computer for any malicious software. I would also advise that you take some time to read over the *Important* Key-Loggers and Computer Security sticky above: (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=1778038509&sid=1). There you should find all the steps necessary to getting yourself underway in restoring your account.

I just don't see how that could have been the case, though. They were gone in literally 5 seconds, it defeintely was not over the period of a day. I was literally playing one of my characters, got disconnected (not unusual, I get disconnected 3 or 4 times a week), and then had no characters when I opened my character selection screen 5 seconds later. That is in direct arguement with what your information provides, that they were deleted over the course of an entire day. Not only that, but it happened in about 5 seconds - not really enough time for someone to manually delete all of my characters. Could the ambiguous timeframe be due to the fact that this was a leap year with feb. 29th

Well, not knowing exactly how many characters I should be looking at, I see that one Troll Rogue names Ravaillac was deleted on the 28th. The others, however, were all deleted at about the same time. Sorry for the confusion, mate.

Yes, auryk, I'm glad you clarified that. I did delete the troll on the 28th, that was certainly on purpose. But the other characters, definitely not. Do you have exact times? Because if it was some sort of server error, the times should be precisely the same, or at least within seconds of each other, which to my knowledge is scarcely even possible to do on purpose since you have to type delete (by me, OR by someone who keylogged me). Also, it just doesn't make sense to delete all your characters on a server on purpose. Will the GM restore them if it was clearly unintentional?

The characters were not all deleted at the same exact time, though it was fairly close. Regardless of whether or not it "appears" that they were deleted unintentionally, there is a pretty good chance that you will be able to get them restored to you.

Thanks for the ticket time too, I guess I have another couple of hours to wait. Can they really restore the characters? I mean I don't see how they could do that without like rolling back the entire server.

I'm extremely sorry, Argonik. It looks like there was a bit of a misunderstanding with the Game Master that you got a survey for. I see that you had two petitions in at the same time, and it appears that two different Game Masters pulled each at about the same time. One was closed straight out, to let the other GM gather more information so he could help you further. I am pretty sure Barinstral will be speaking to you fairly soon.

i have that same issue right now, i talked to a GM and they said to try the repair tool which did not work. i got an email about deleting 3 folders in the wow folder and that didnt work. now my ticket is esceladed and im sitting here bored. i looked into deleting and reinstalling wow from the website but read how long that takes. just logging into the game takes longer than usual. every other server but the one i play on works just fine. i click on my server, it says its loading, 15 seconds the server list pops up. how can i fix that without redownloading wow? i didnt do anything between now and when i played last night. (other than sleep of course)
