My husband had his account stolen. Why hasnt Blizzard done anything about this problem? I've heard about people getting their passwords stolen & changed, but we never thought it could happen to us. Nobody knows our passwords, so it had to be some sort of keylogger or virus. Blizzard, will you please address this issue & make logins more secure. If not, is there a real-time protection antivirus software thats free that goes great with wow, and doesnt slow your computer down?
Also, i cannot reach anyone by phone!!! I think phone support should be 24/7. The person is on our account right now!!! Help!

The two most likely sources of your compromise:

    - Malicious program dedicated to the acquisition of personal information, accomplished by logging keystrokes

    - Letter sent to your registered address wherein specific information pertinent to your account was requested and accidentally answered; these emails are known as "phishing" scams and are used to glean login and passwords

You are welcome to propose increased security via our Suggestions Forum, Luvyou; in the meanwhile, however, it's absolutely imperative that you scrub your personal computer—as well as any other computer you may use from time to time—for potential keyloggers and data miners; with this, it may also be beneficial to secure key pieces of relevant Billing information by changing your listed email, home address, and phone number (example: use your work address or P.O. Box; have a cell number listed; etc).

Here's a helpful article to get you started:

Once you have ensured that your computer is more pure than the unsullied Moonwells of Kalimdor, my friend, continue with the following steps:

This is much like a Choose Your Own Adventure; steps may vary depending.

    1. Do you have access to the game? If yes, proceed to step C; if no, proceed to step 2.

    2. Do you have access to your registered email address and Secret Question/Answer? If yes, proceed to Step A; if no, proceed to Step B.

    A. Utilize the Retrieve Password feature located on our front page. Once accomplished, proceed to step C.

    B. Contact Billing at your earliest convenience to have your password reset. Once accomplished, proceed to step C.

    C. Submit an in-game petition from the affected account. Include some semblance of the following:

Whether or not any characters have been transferred
If characters have been transferred, which ones—include both original name and realm
Whether or not characters have been deleted
If character have been deleted, which ones—include both name and realm
Whether or not inventories have been purged or sold
Whether or not gold is missing
If gold is missing, in what amount
Whether or not a guild bank was affected

If any characters were transfered without your expressed permission, please fill out the following form, as well:

Once step C is completed, please email [email protected] to contest any action which may have been taken against your account for activities conducted during your specific compromise.

These steps will ensure that the proper actions have been set into motion. They will notify the appropriate departments of your situation and queue you up for investigation. After you've been queued, you need to remain patient; at present, it may take up to week for an account to be fully restored.

I wish you luck. :)
