Gold Scammer Solution?

I'm posting this in the CS forum, considering that many of the CS posts are about being gold scammed or are a result of being gold scammed. I'll also be posting this in the suggestions forum, as it is a suggestion.

Solution: Why doesn't Blizzard just sell gold themselves? I've heard that Guild Wars does this, and if Blizzard does too it would completely crush the gold scammer market. It's your game guys, and I think it would be safe to say that this is the only way to completely wipe them from the game. I thought of this after I read the scamming post on the WoW front page. You guys control the game...why not sell gold? It would be good for your business, and since it is open to everybody it won't give one player an advantage.

Lower the gold prices lower than what the scammers possibly could. Of course, there might still be hacking, but they would have no reason to since they won't make any money for it.

Discuss.

In the interest of brevity, Maedis, I'll explain it like this.

We want all players to be on equal footing, regardless of income and livelihood. You say that because it's open to everybody, that it won't give one player an advantage, but this is patently false. While we do offer paid services, these are technical or vanity services as opposed to services which offer a real and true advantage in the game, like RMT gold buying would.

Bear in mind that most games which offer RMT make their money off of said transactions because the games are free to play. We offer a flat subscription in exchange for everyone having the same opportunities to make and trade in-game currency without fear of someone gaining a tangible advantage over them simply due to a combination of laziness and disposable income.

We're not warlocks, and we'll not sink to the level of our detractors in an effort to defeat them.
